Screw Caps
Composition:
– Sand(SiO2)
– Soda ash(NaCO3)
– Lime stone(CaCO3)
– Cullet(broken glass)
– Metal salts(Fe and Mn salts)

Disadvantages

5. Multi-Layer HDPE Bottles

– Comparatively better barrier
– Strength, resistance to moisture
– Recyclable
Disadvantages:
– low resistance to UV light and gas permeability

7. Cold Formed Foil(CFF) Blisters
Composition:
– 60µ PVC / 45µ Aluminum / 25µ oPA.
– 100µ PVC / 45µ Aluminum / 25µ oPA.

Advantages:
– Near absolute barrier for moisture and oxygen.
– Larger blister packs
– Light protective
Disadvantages:
– Not transparent
– Slower processing compared to thermoforming

9. Anti-counterfeit Packaging
System
ACF films and foils incorporate “UV Markers” to protect against counterfeiting.
• Company logo or product brand logo can be combined
• which are not easily visible.

Digital Imaging:
(on-package system) protection on folding cartons, blisters, labels and Leaflets. A
unique pattern made by printed dots, invisible to naked eye.
Fingerprints:
(On-dosage or on-product protection) Use of existing anti-counterfeit feature on
bottle closures.

11. Thermoforming Blister Packs
It is also called Aluminum/plastic blister pack.
– Contains PVC or Polyvinyl Chloride
– Aluminum foil

Advantages:
– transparent plastic
– low cost and ease of operation.
Disadvantages:
– poor barrier against moisture and oxygen ingress
– Not suitable for light-sensitive drugs because the transparence of PVC.

13. Cyclic Olefin Copolymer (COC)
Composition:
– Standard range starts at 190 µm COC up to 300 µm COC
– COC core starts at 120 µm COC up to 350 µm of COC

Advantages:
• Totally amorphous offering excellent clarity
• Highest Moisture Barrier Polyolefin
• Excellent Thermoform ability
• Compatible with standard olefin lidding foil
Disadvantages:
• Not the best oxygen barrier
• Sensitive to non polar solvents
• Need a skin of a PP or PE

15. PCTFE Lamination
Composition:
– PCTFE is a flexible thermoplastic film made from fluoropolymer resin

• more forgiving in thermoforming
Duplex lamination (PVC/PCTFE ):
• Light weight
• lower cost (source reduction)
• better clarity
• gaining greater acceptance
