Thank you for joining us today. I’m Neha Naik & I lead the channel partnerships team at Radix.
Radix is the largest new gTLD applicant from Asia with over 20 new TLD applications. Through this webinar, I will introduce you to Radix’s TLDs and also announce a special program that we’re unveiling for ResellerClub partners.
Before we get to that though, let’s take a look at what is happening with new gTLDs today, and what the buzz has really amounted to. As most of you are web service providers – knowing where we are in terms of nTLDs and how these can make a difference to your business is what we want to focus on through this presentation.
Some of the first nTLDs launched earlier this year went into GA around April. 5 months on, and we are at close to 2 million new TLD domain names
The chart below shows you the distribution of new gTLD registrants across the globe, the US and Germany lead the way in terms of registrants, followed by China and the UK but you’ll see that the interest in nTLDs is coming from other parts of the world. We’re still at a very nascent stage in terms of new TLDs and our hope is that this grows in the months to come
A quick snapshot at what the last month looked like in terms of nTLDs:
Over 300k names registered in 1 month, an average of over 10k a day and over 400 and hour – and this no. is really growing as more and more new TLDs are being introduced, as newer partners and providers are offering nTLDs and in general as awareness and acceptance is growing.
In terms of alexa rankings, there are over 600 nTLD sites already in the top 1million alexa ranked sites globally – adoption is gradual, but usage exists, traffic to these sites exists and it seems like its only a matter of time before you see more nTLDs go mainstream
And this ties in to what customers have to say. As per a study conducted by wakefield and sedo, we saw some interesting statistics – 52% of the respondents actually said that they would change their domainname if they had the chance to do so, and 59% would consider a new gTLD – all of this because they would have a chance to get the name they really wanted, a memorable & brandable address that would set them apart from everything else out there!
With that backdrop, I’d like to introduce you to Radix’s first 3 new TLDS - .website, .press & .host

Resonating that fact is the sunrise performance we had for the extension with among the largest sunrise applications in this new gTLD round. And when we opened for GA on the 18th - .website saw a super rush to get over 6000 registrations in the first few hours of opening up

The direct target market for .press is journalists, media professionals, news corporations, newspapers publishers and bloggers & in terms of target market size
there are over 1 million jouranlists, there are over 230 million bloggers – even if you assume that a small percentage of this market converts to a .press, the potential is significant. There are over 50k newspapers and over 98k online news websites – all again a target market for the .press TLD

We conducted a survey across journalists & bloggers across the US and Europe, and 50% of the journalists said that they associated .press with credibility & professionalism, even bloggers felt that as compared to other nTLDs, .press would be treated as more credible and something that professional bloggers would opt for.
.press is semantically relevant with universal acceptance – it is understood across languages & countries – everyone know what the press is.
And for the broader audience which is companies - .press presents itself as a PR tool and direct destination for companies to engage with their audiences!
Unlike .website, .press is a niche TLD – it has a more focused & targeted audience. That means that you can get sticky, high value clients with renewable business
