ASSOCIATED PRESS OF PAKISTAN (APP)
• It was started in 1947 • Due to debts, it was taken over by
the Government of Pakistan through an Ordinance called;
“Associated Press of Pakistan (taking over) Ordinance
1961″, on 15th June 1961 • APP was later converted into
Corporation on October 19, 2002 through an Ordinance
renaming it as Associated Press of Pakistan Corporation
(APPC) and lending a status of semi government media. •
Its head office is located in Islamabad and maintains five
bureaus at Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar Quetta and
Rawalpindi and seven news centres at Sukkur, Multan,
Quetta, Faisalabad, Larkana, Hyderabad, Muzaffarabad and
now Gilgit-Baltistan • APP has News Exchange Agreements
with 37 Foreign News Agencies and more than 500
correspondents.
Pakistan Press International (PPI)
• It was started by MuzzamAli in June 1956 as Pakistan
Press Association (PPA). • Its Head quarter is located in
Karachi. • The agency objective was to provide
competition to APP's monopoly. • It began its service
by hand, only in Karachi. PPA also built up a network of
correspondents in the smaller cities and towns in
Pakistan. • For foreign news the agency signed up with
the Agence France-Presse (AFP) in 1957. • In 1958, the
agency installed the tele-printers in the offices of its
clients. • By 1960, PPI had subscribers in all the major
newspapers centers of Pakistan, namely Karachi,
Lahore, Rawalpindi and Dacca.
Independent News Pakistan (INP)
• Capital headquarter is located in Islamabad. •
Its Chief editor is Syed Asif Salahuddin. •
Bureaus are in Lahore, Peshawar,
Karachi,Quetta & Azad Kashmir, with more
than 1000 correspondent all our the Pakistan
and world. • INP.net.pk relies heavily on team
of almost 100 news professionals.
South Asian Broadcasting Agency
(SABAH)
• Head quarter is located in Islamabad. • Its
Chief Editor is ShakilAhmedTurabi.
News Network International (NNI)
• News Network International (NNI) is a private-
operated national news agency of Pakistan. •
It was established in 1992. • Its Head Office is
located in Islamabad. • Its Editor in Chief is
AmmarYasir • It have hundreds of reporters,
Bureau chief all across the Pakistan and
around the globe to cover national and
international issues. • It provide services in
both languages Urdu and English
Asia News Network (ANN)
• Founded in 1999 with seven members. • ANN is
headquartered at the offices of the Nation
Multimedia Group in Bangkok • It is a network of
22 media groups inAsian cities, organized to
provide avenues for cooperation and to optimize
coverage of major news events in the region. •
ANN’s main activities are daily exchanges of
news, photos and a host of other collaborations.
• Asia News Network (ANN) new logolaunched in
May 28, 2016 in the ANN Board Meeting in
Beijing, China. • The new logo was designed by
graphic designer Steven Cruz in February, 2016.
Online International News Network
(OINN)
• Pakistan's first bilingual news and photo wire
service, dedicated to issues that are neglected by
the mainstream media. • Its Editor-in-Chief is
Mohsin Baig • Its Editor is Shamshad Mangat. •
Its reports often appear in the national and
international print media while our photographs
dominate news pages in most of the newspapers
coming out from Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore,
Peshawar and Quetta besides some leading
papers in the Middle East, Europe and the United
States.

• It founded on 27 august 1947 • PressTrust of India (PTI) is
the largest news agency in India. • It is headquartered in
New Delhi • Major Indian subscribers of PTI include The
Hindu, Times of India, the Indian Express, the
HindustanTimes,The Statesman,TheTribune, the All India
Radio and Doordarshan. • PTI has offices in Bangkok,
Beijing, Colombo, Dubai, Islamabad, Kuala Lumpur,
Moscow, NewYork andWashington D.C. • PressTrust of India
is the only news agency in South Asia which operates its
own communication satellite, an INSAT, to broadcast news
and information. • Its current chairman is Riyadh Mathew.
• It employs more than 400 journalists and 500 stringers to
cover almost every district and small town in India.
XINGHUA (CHINA)
• The Xinhua News Agency is the official press agency of the
People's Republic of China. • The Xinhua press agency was
started in November 1931 as the Red China News Agency
and changed to its current name in 1937. • The Xinhua
headquarters is located in Beijing. • Its president is a
member of the Central Committee of China'sCommunist
Party. • It operates more than 170 foreign bureaus
worldwide, and maintains 31 bureaus in China—one for
each province, plus a military bureau. • Xinhua is a
publisher as well as a news agency—it owns more than 20
newspapers and a dozen magazines, and it prints in eight
languages:Chinese, English, Spanish, French, Russian,
Portuguese, Arabic, and Japanese.
BARNAMA (MALAYSIA )
• BERNAMA is a news agency of the
government of Malaysia. • Bernama is an
abbreviation of Berita Nasional Malaysia. • It
was set up by anAct of Parliament in 1967 and
started work on 20 May 1968. • BERNAMA
operates from its headquarters at Wisma
Bernama, off JalanTun Razak near National
Library, Kuala Lumpur. • Its General Manager
is Datuk Zulkefli bin Salleh and Datuk
ZakariaAbdul Wahab is the Editor-in-Chief.
WAM (U.A.E)
• Wakalat Anba'a al Emarat, also known as WAM, is the
official news agency of the UnitedArab Emirates. •
TheWAM was launched in November 1976. • It started
Arabic broadcast on 18 June 1977 and English
broadcast in December 1978. • Its headquarter is
located inAbu Dhabi. • Its Executive Director is Jamal
NasserAl Suwaider. • It has offices in Cairo,
Beirut,Washington, Sanaa, Brussels and Islamabad. • It
is a member of the Gulf CooperationCouncil news
agencies, the Federation ofArab News Agencies, the
International Islamic News Agency, the Pool of Non-
Aligned News agencies and of the Organization ofAsia-
Pacific News Agencies (OANA).
Anadolu Agency (Turkey)
• AnadoluAgency is a state-run press agency inTurkey. •
The AnadoluAgency was founded in 6 April 1920 during
theTurkish War of Independence. • Its headquarter is
located inTandoğan,Ankara,Turkey/ • Mustafa Kemal
Atatürk, Halide Edip Adıvar andYunus Nadi Abalıoğlu
are the founders of AnadoluAgency. • Its CEO is Şenol
Kazancı. • AA currently broadcasts inTurkish,
English,Arabic, French, Kurdish, Bosnian,Croatian and
Serbian (BCS), Russian, Macedonian and Albanian.The
agency aims to deliver its products in 11 languages as
of 2020 • It has a network of reporters in 86 countries.
Agencia EFE (Spain)
• Founded on 3 January 1939 by Spain's former
minister of the press and propaganda Ramón
Serrano Súñer and ManuelAznar Zubigaray. •
Its head quarter is located in Madrid, Spain. •
NowAgencia EFE is the world's fourth largest
wire service after the Associated Press,
Reuters, andAgence France-Presse. • The
agency organized the second News
AgenciesWorld Congress (NAWC) in 2007.
TASS (Telegraph Agency of the Soviet
Union)
• TASS is a major news agency in Russia, founded in
December 1902. • TASS is the largest Russian news agency,
and the fourth largest in the world after Reuters, the
Associated Press (AP) and Agence France-Presse (AFP). •
TASS is owned by the Government of Russia and has
Headquartered in Moscow, Russia. • TASS has 70 offices in
Russia and in the Commonwealth of Independent States
(CIS), as well as 68 bureaus around the world. • TASS is a
media partner of high-profile conferences, forums and
exhibitions in Russia and abroad • The news agency ran one
of the biggest networks of correspondents in the world -
682 offices in the country and 94 bureaus abroad, and
employed close to 2,000 journalists and photo
correspondents.
IRNA (Iran) • The Islamic Republic
News Agency (IRNA)
• is the official news agency of the Islamic
Republic of Iran. • It was launched on 13
November 1934. • It is government-funded
and controlled under the Iranian Ministry of
Culture and IslamicGuidance. • As of 2010,
the Managing Director of IRNA is Mohammad
Khodaddi. • IRNA has 60 offices in Iran and 30
more in various countries around the world.
SANA (SYRIA)
• The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) is a news
agency in Syria. • It was established in June 1965.
• It is a public-owned media organization linked
to the Ministry of Information. • SANA launched
its website in 1997. • Up until November 2012,
SANA's website was hosted in Dallas,Texas by the
United States company SoftLayer. Due to
sanctions related to the Syrian CivilWar, which
make this hosting illegal, the SoftLayer company
was obliged to terminate its hosting
responsibilities with SANA.
Kyodo News (Japan)
• Kyodo News is a nonprofit cooperative news agency of
Japan. • It was established by Furunu Inosuke, the
president of the Domei News Agencyin November
1945. • Its headquarters is located in Minato,Tokyo,
Japan • K. K. Kyodo News is Kyodo News' business arm,
established in 1972. • Satoshi Ishikawa is the news
agency's president • The subdivision Kyodo News
International, founded in 1982, provides over 200
reports to international news media and is located in
Rockefeller Center, NewYork City. • Their online news
site is in Japanese,Chinese (Simplified andTraditional),
Korean, and English.

AFP (FRANCE)
• Founded in 1944, • Agence France-Presse (AFP) is
an international news agency, headquartered in
Paris, France. • AFP is the third largest news
agency in the world, after the Associated Press
(AP) and Reuters • Currently, the CEO is
Emmanuel Hoog (fr) and the News Director is
Michèle Léridon. • AFP has regional offices in
Nicosia, Montevideo, Hong Kong,
andWashington, D.C., and bureaux in 150
countries. • AFP transmits news in French,
English,Arabic, Portuguese, Spanish, and German.
Reuters (England)
• Reuters is an international news agency of England. •
Reuters is the news and media division ofThomson
Reuters.Thomson Reuters is the world's largest
international multimedia news agency • Founded on
October 1851. • Stephen J. Adler is the CEO of Reuters. • It
is headquartered inCanaryWharf, London, England, United
Kingdom. • Until 2008, the Reuters news agency formed
part of an independent company, Reuters Group plc, which
was also a provider of financial market data. Since the
acquisition of Reuters Group by theThomsonCorporation in
2008, the Reuters news agency has been a part ofThomson
Reuters, making up the media division. • Reuters transmits
news in English, French , Arabic , Spanish , German, Italian,
Portuguese , Russian, Japanese, Korean, Urdu, and Chinese.
AP (America)
• The Associated Press (AP) is anAmerican multinational nonprofit
news agency • It was launched on May 22, 1846. • It is
headquartered in NewYork City that operates as a cooperative,
unincorporated association. • Mary Junck is the Chairman while the
President and CEO is Gary Pruitt. • The AP operates 243 news
bureaus in 120 countries. It also operates the AP Radio Network,
which provides newscasts twice hourly for broadcast and satellite
radio and television stations. • It has won 52 Pulitzer Prizes,
including 31 for photography, since the award was established in
1917. • As of 2007, news collected by the AP was published and
republished by more than 1,700 newspapers, in addition to more
than 5,000 television and radio broadcasters. The photograph
library of the AP consists of over 10 million images.

  • 3. ASSOCIATED PRESS OF PAKISTAN (APP) • It was started in 1947 • Due to debts, it was taken over by the Government of Pakistan through an Ordinance called; “Associated Press of Pakistan (taking over) Ordinance 1961″, on 15th June 1961 • APP was later converted into Corporation on October 19, 2002 through an Ordinance renaming it as Associated Press of Pakistan Corporation (APPC) and lending a status of semi government media. • Its head office is located in Islamabad and maintains five bureaus at Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar Quetta and Rawalpindi and seven news centres at Sukkur, Multan, Quetta, Faisalabad, Larkana, Hyderabad, Muzaffarabad and now Gilgit-Baltistan • APP has News Exchange Agreements with 37 Foreign News Agencies and more than 500 correspondents.

Pakistan Press International (PPI) • It was started by MuzzamAli in June 1956 as Pakistan Press Association (PPA). • Its Head quarter is located in Karachi. • The agency objective was to provide competition to APP's monopoly. • It began its service by hand, only in Karachi. PPA also built up a network of correspondents in the smaller cities and towns in Pakistan. • For foreign news the agency signed up with the Agence France-Presse (AFP) in 1957. • In 1958, the agency installed the tele-printers in the offices of its clients. • By 1960, PPI had subscribers in all the major newspapers centers of Pakistan, namely Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Dacca.

Independent News Pakistan (INP) • Capital headquarter is located in Islamabad. • Its Chief editor is Syed Asif Salahuddin. • Bureaus are in Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi,Quetta & Azad Kashmir, with more than 1000 correspondent all our the Pakistan and world. • INP.net.pk relies heavily on team of almost 100 news professionals.

Asia News Network (ANN) • Founded in 1999 with seven members. • ANN is headquartered at the offices of the Nation Multimedia Group in Bangkok • It is a network of 22 media groups inAsian cities, organized to provide avenues for cooperation and to optimize coverage of major news events in the region. • ANN’s main activities are daily exchanges of news, photos and a host of other collaborations. • Asia News Network (ANN) new logolaunched in May 28, 2016 in the ANN Board Meeting in Beijing, China. • The new logo was designed by graphic designer Steven Cruz in February, 2016.

PTI (PressTrust of India) • It founded on 27 august 1947 • PressTrust of India (PTI) is the largest news agency in India. • It is headquartered in New Delhi • Major Indian subscribers of PTI include The Hindu, Times of India, the Indian Express, the HindustanTimes,The Statesman,TheTribune, the All India Radio and Doordarshan. • PTI has offices in Bangkok, Beijing, Colombo, Dubai, Islamabad, Kuala Lumpur, Moscow, NewYork andWashington D.C. • PressTrust of India is the only news agency in South Asia which operates its own communication satellite, an INSAT, to broadcast news and information. • Its current chairman is Riyadh Mathew. • It employs more than 400 journalists and 500 stringers to cover almost every district and small town in India.

XINGHUA (CHINA) • The Xinhua News Agency is the official press agency of the People's Republic of China. • The Xinhua press agency was started in November 1931 as the Red China News Agency and changed to its current name in 1937. • The Xinhua headquarters is located in Beijing. • Its president is a member of the Central Committee of China'sCommunist Party. • It operates more than 170 foreign bureaus worldwide, and maintains 31 bureaus in China—one for each province, plus a military bureau. • Xinhua is a publisher as well as a news agency—it owns more than 20 newspapers and a dozen magazines, and it prints in eight languages:Chinese, English, Spanish, French, Russian, Portuguese, Arabic, and Japanese.

BARNAMA (MALAYSIA ) • BERNAMA is a news agency of the government of Malaysia. • Bernama is an abbreviation of Berita Nasional Malaysia. • It was set up by anAct of Parliament in 1967 and started work on 20 May 1968. • BERNAMA operates from its headquarters at Wisma Bernama, off JalanTun Razak near National Library, Kuala Lumpur. • Its General Manager is Datuk Zulkefli bin Salleh and Datuk ZakariaAbdul Wahab is the Editor-in-Chief.

Agencia EFE (Spain) • Founded on 3 January 1939 by Spain's former minister of the press and propaganda Ramón Serrano Súñer and ManuelAznar Zubigaray. • Its head quarter is located in Madrid, Spain. • NowAgencia EFE is the world's fourth largest wire service after the Associated Press, Reuters, andAgence France-Presse. • The agency organized the second News AgenciesWorld Congress (NAWC) in 2007.

TASS (Telegraph Agency of the Soviet Union) • TASS is a major news agency in Russia, founded in December 1902. • TASS is the largest Russian news agency, and the fourth largest in the world after Reuters, the Associated Press (AP) and Agence France-Presse (AFP). • TASS is owned by the Government of Russia and has Headquartered in Moscow, Russia. • TASS has 70 offices in Russia and in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), as well as 68 bureaus around the world. • TASS is a media partner of high-profile conferences, forums and exhibitions in Russia and abroad • The news agency ran one of the biggest networks of correspondents in the world - 682 offices in the country and 94 bureaus abroad, and employed close to 2,000 journalists and photo correspondents.

SANA (SYRIA) • The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) is a news agency in Syria. • It was established in June 1965. • It is a public-owned media organization linked to the Ministry of Information. • SANA launched its website in 1997. • Up until November 2012, SANA's website was hosted in Dallas,Texas by the United States company SoftLayer. Due to sanctions related to the Syrian CivilWar, which make this hosting illegal, the SoftLayer company was obliged to terminate its hosting responsibilities with SANA.
