modern solar cell. Ohl was a notable semiconductor
researcher prior to the invention of the transistor.
• Russell Shoemaker Ohl (January 1898 - March
1987) is generally recognised for patenting the
modern solar cell (US Patent 2402662, "Light
sensitive device").
• That is how Ohl energy was
founded, as a tribute to this
legacy and breakthrough.
• Russell Ohl was indeed the
"father" of discoveries that lead
