1 Literature review on Euthanasia
1.1 Stop the murders under the name of Euthanasia or euthanasia should be
illegal
Euthanasia, or however people might call it to brighten up an act of murder, is the act of
"pulling the plug" as we know it in slang. There are at least 3147 cases of euthanasia worldwide
that happen when a patient at a hospital is very sick and is hanging between life and death
(Rollin,2009). The doctors or the people making decision on behalf of that person are then asked
if they should assist the patient in ending his or her suffering. However, it might not be the right
of anyone to claim someone's life, even if the patient is unresponsive. Doctors have a duty to
keep working very hard to make sure that no blood is spilt on their hands, or in a more literal
phrase, because of their hands. In one case, doctors euthanized two deaf kids because they were
afraid they might go blind. This case was based only on speculation and someone should take
responsibility for the kids’ deaths. Euthanasia has a lot of negative associations to it, and as some
might argue that they are ending the suffering of that patient, there is still that question lingering
whether there was hope or not. Many cases of coma have gone for years, and in the end, the
patient woke-up, maybe a little bit unaware and unstable, but the patient is alive. Terry Wallis
made the news after waking up from a 19 year coma (Ryan, 2013). Euthanasia should be treated
as an act of murder because of the negative social, cultural and religious effects that it causes.

1.2 Euthanasia & Physician Assisted Suicide
The Physician assisted suicide is the voluntary termination of the life by one’s own will.
This voluntary termination of the life is usually done by using any type of lethal substances, this
using of lethal substance could have by using the physician assistance or not. Physician assisted
suicide is the type of medical practice that is the type of act that is comprised to prescribe the
medication to the patient with the intension to put an end of the patient life.
In United States of America, Oregon is the only state that allows this type of act that lead
to the death. The name of the law that is in practice is the Death with Dignity Act , this act allow
the fatally ill state resident to have the prescriptions for self-controlled deadly substance from
their physician or doctors.
However, this procedure does not permit the euthanasia, where the physician or any
other person administrates the process of medication directly to end his/her life. Death with
Dignity Act gives the permission to adults who are the victim of terminal disease and in the stage
of ending his life with the probability to end their life within six months. These patients are
allowed according to this act to use lethal substances to end their own life with the help of their
physicians. However, the fact is that there were only few peoples who were willing to follow this
act and there is very slight number of patients who practiced this legally allowed lethal practice.

1.2.1 Euthanasia, Physician Assisted Suicide & Controversies
However, it is the big debate about this type of suicide. The opponent of Physician
Assisted Suicide argue that there is no any right to end the costless human life because it is the
basic right of common human being to enjoy his life even with the hope that there will be some
good that is waiting for him or her. Because, hope is like the lantern in the deep darkness that
provide help to identify the path to overcome any quest. Furthermore, the role of doctor and
physician should be as the role model that has the prime responsibility to put the balm on soaring
disease than to convert them as the killer that is the totally diversification of their prime
responsibilities that is to provide the healing ("Death with dignity,").
However, there is another point of view that supports the notion of Physician Assisted
Suicide. According to this viewpoint, if patient is already suffering with deadly pain and
uncontrollable disease and there is the clear evident that the victim of such type of uncontrollable
and lethal disease will have to face the death in near future, there is no any use to keep them
alive with the unbearable pain.
The negative cultural effects of euthanasia are in the tampering with cultural values that
have been passed to us from one generation to the other. Just like our cultural background in the
U.A.E condemns killing and murder, it condemns euthanasia and any act that can be related to
murder. We are looking at a world losing cultural values, and becoming more open. Open is not

a bad thing when it is for the better, but we cannot add murder to become part of the openness
that is happening to our cultural background. There is no implication that one's culture is perfect.
However, a lot of good values have been passed to us like respect, loyalty and a lot more, only
these values that have expired and no longer suit our current advancement should be changed by
the parents and the scholar of our modern culture. Euthanasia will destroy a huge dimension of
our culture, of all cultures for that matter. We have just run away from good cultural pillars to
ones that make us murderers and criminals. It will cause a separation between loved one, with
less respect towards a person’s life, and without mutual respect towards everything that is human
we can’t be differentiated from animals.
1.3 Euthanasia Controversies & Dr. Jack Kevorkian
In the connection of this supportive notion, the name of Dr. Jack Kevorkian is very
famous because of its controversial character as pathologist. He is also known as Dr. Death. Jack
Kevorkian was firstly entitled as the Dr. Death in 1956 when he initiated the photographing of
patient’s retina at the time of demise in the perspective to differentiate between the death and
comma. …………………………………
