  2. CINDY Unfortunately as a whole… our gains are NOT offsetting our losses. Based on the 1 July 2013 numbers, we were at 1.185 million members. This is 23,000 fewer from the 30 June 2013 number of 1.208 million members and 17,000 fewer from 1 July 2012 of 1.202 As of 31 December, we are at 1.206 million members. We want to take a moment to thank you again for all of your efforts to help grow membership. We appreciate all of your hard work and ask that you continue to assist with growing the Rotary Family. Since 1996, we have remained at the 1.2 million mark, so we really need your help in reaching out to the clubs and club presidents to encourage and educate the importance of gaining new members at the club level. It is in the best interest of Rotary to increase our membership numbers. In order to move our organization forward, we need to grow our membership at a faster rate.

  4. CINDY Here is an image of your membership dues at work. This image and breakdown comes from the February 2014 issue of The Rotarian. Right now, RI dues are $53 (USD). Depending on where you are in the world, that equates to about 4 to 15 percent of your total membership dues. The rest of your membership dues total primarily covers club and district expenses, meals, and a subscription to The Rotarian. Rotary is committed to monitoring and controlling expenses closely, making prudent cuts, and investing where needed. For example, more meetings than ever take place virtually, and Rotary’s data center, software development, and some transaction processing services were moved to Pune, India, to lower costs. However, it is important that Rotary Continue to invest in staff and technology to grow and improve the organization. The only way to do this is with more dues – and the only way to receive more dues to provide better programs and services for Rotary members – is to increase membership in Rotary.
