Education and Avoiding Intercultural Conflict Using Rotarian Ethics
Notizen zu Folie 1 / Notes to Slide 1 (Überschrift über alle 3 Vorträge der Session / Heading for
all 3 presentations of the Session)
Ethical self-control of Rotarians’ private and vocational behavior should facilitate friendly
communication also in ethical dilemmas. This should be extended to friendly communication between
Rotarians of different values, cultures and religions. Finally, a discussion on existing and potential
initiatives for Rotarian projects for ethic teaching in secondary schools, high schools and in
universities should deliver a perspective for such projects in all countries with engaged Rotary Clubs.

This is no introduction to Quantum Physics but a short overview how the New Physics is approaching
to Philosophy and Theology and thereby facilitating integration. For further information for laypeople
please take one of my brochures (EN or DE) with you.

2. 2
De Broglie at length: “On the day quanta were surreptitiously introduced the comprehensive and
great building of classical physics was shaken to its foundations. There have been but few upheavals
in the history of rational thought which would be comparable with the latter.” Polkinghorne at
length: „Religion without science is confined; it fails to be completely open to reality. Science without
religion is incomplete; it fails to attain the deepest possible understanding.“

Max Planck 1900 Vortrag im Physikalischen Institut in Berlin (heute Hauptstadtbüro der ARD).
Paradoxes Verhalten elektromagnetischer Energie (Schwarzkörperstrahlung)
Interferenz – Schrödingers Katze – Verbindung zwischen Beobachter und Subjekt führt zum
Zusammenbruch der Wellenfunktion (Niels Bohr, Kopenhagener Deutung, Hugh Everetts parallele
Welten)

Max Planck 1900 presentation in Berlin: paradoxal behavior of electromagnetic energy (blackbody
radiation)
Interference – Schrödinger‘s cat – interrelation between observer and subject creates the collapse of
the wave and of the interference (Niels Bohr, Copenhagen Interpretation, Hugh Everett‘s parallel
worlds)
Instantaneous action at a distant (independent from the distance); as per Einstein (special theory of
relativity) nothing could be faster than light; Anton Zeilinger‘s experiment on Canary Islands:
exchange of information faster than light; Quantum Foam – morphogenetic fields; Rovelli speaks
about Quantum Foam like a tissue of the universe.

„Objective of the Theory of Consonance: „On the one hand to show that Natural Science as well as
Theology are reasonable just as autonomous descriptions of the reality and on the other hand to
3. 3
explain how to understand its inner connectedness.“ Science and Theology retain their due
autonomies in their acknowledged domain, but the statement they make must be capable of
appropriate reconciliation with each other in overlap regions. (Polkinghorne)
Regarding a „general theory underlying all this remarkable behavior“: „I share with many the belief
that when the theory is eventually discovered it will involve some appropriate concept of physical
information likely to be as significant dynamically as energy has long proved to be.“(Polkinghorne)
The result is a „Natural Theology which complements insights of natural science – instead of being in
conflict with them.“
Again: „Religion without science is confined; it fails to be completely open to reality. Science without
religion is incomplete; it fails to contain the deepest possible understanding.“

solcher Erfahrungen.

Quanta are the foundation of everything, organic or inorganic
Ref. 2: „Matter does not consist of matter“. „Finally, we have no more any matter, only form, shape,
symmetry, relationship.“ (Dürr, disciple of Werner Heisenberg and former Director of the Werner
Heisenberg Institute in Munich)
Ref. 3: Research in Medicine opens up more and more to the verification or falsification of these
experiences.

Beispiele für Unterschiede in Kulturen der Welt:
- Gotteserfahrung: im Westen interpersonale Gotteserfahrung (Gott als Gegenüber) – im
Osten: transpersonale Gotteserfahrung (Gott in mir selbst)
Gleichungen
- Hinduismus: Atman: individuelle (unsterbliche) Seele; Brahman: Weltseele; Advaita-Vedanta:

Hans-Peter Dürr (source see above):
Some differences in world cultures:
- Experience of God: in the Occident interpersonal (God as counterpart) – in the Orient:
transpersonal (God within myself)
- Occident differentiates: here is the one and there the other; Orient connects: Holism,
everything is connected somehow
- Asia-Pacific: Chinese scientists refer to western thinking as model building activity; the model
is more important than the reality – Standard Model – String Theory – Stephen Hawking’s M-
Theory with10500
Equations
- Hinduism: Atman: individual (immortal soul); Brahman: world soul; Advaita Vedanta is both
in one – God exists uniquely, in everybody as the same.
- Buddhism: Karma as evil or good with influence on reincarnation
