 MCAI MCQ :
 Primary medical qualification acceptable to the Irish Medical Council (IMC).

 Employed as an anesthetist for 12 months, prior to the date of the exam.
 Success in the MCAI MCQ.

 Passed, within 10 years preceding the exam date, or is exempt.
 Completed 30 months of training in the specialty of anesthesia within 5 years of the date of the
exam. in posts approved by the CAI or the RCoA (UK). up to 12 months may have been completed in a recognized training
program overseas.
 Registration with the CAI or the RCoA (UK) as a postgraduate trainee in Anesthesia. Or Has been
employed as an anesthetist in a NHS anesthetic department which has a defined training element
