6. Assessment of Clinical Skills
Exam Style: 10 Clinical Stations on 2 days duration 5 in each day for 7 hours
Stations:
• Class II amalgam preparation.
• Class III composite resin preparation.
• Full metal crown preparation.
• Metal-ceramic (porcelain fused to metal) crown preparation.
• Endodontic access preparation on a molar tooth.
• Direct Class II composite resin restoration on a pre-prepared* tooth
• Direct Class IV composite resin restoration on a pre-prepared* tooth
• Class II amalgam restoration on a pre-prepared* tooth
• Provisional crown restoration for a pre-prepared* metal-ceramic (porcelain fused to
metal) crown preparation on Day 2 of the Assessment. The original unprepared
tooth will be in the typodont used on Day 1 of the Assessment.

7. Assessment of Clinical Judgment
Exam Style: consists of three (3) books each consists of : 25 EMQs in 90
minutes

• Diagnosis, Treatment Planning and Clinical Decision Making, This extended match
multiple choice Assessment will evaluate the participant’s ability to formulate a diagnosis and to
make clinical decisions. Case histories, dental charts and photographs may be provided for
patients of all ages, including those with special needs.
• Book 2
• Radiographic Interpretation
Using prints of radiographs, this extended match multiple choice Assessment will evaluate the
participant’s knowledge in oral radiology and ability to make a radiographic interpretation and
diagnosis.

10. • CONTENT AND FORMAT
• The OSCE is a station type examination comprised of a morning session
(150 Minutes) and an afternoon session (165 Minutes) on the same day.
• stations will have 2 questions, will require the candidate to review the
information supplied (e.g. case history, dental charts, photographs,
radiographs, casts, models) and answer EMQ, each station has only 5
Minutes duration.
• A few stations may require the candidate to write an acceptable
prescription for a medication commonly prescribed by general dentists in
Canada.
