2.  INTRODUCTION
 OBJECTIVE
 IMPORT OF POISON
 POSSESSIONS, POSSESSION OF SALE AND SALE
AND SALE OF ANY POISON
 LIST OF POISONOUS SUBSTANCES
 ISSUE WARRANTS

3.  This Act was passed in 3rd September , 1919 in India .
 To control the possession for sale and the sale whether
wholesale or retails , of any specified poison .
 Need of poison act ?
 The act extends to the whole of India except the state of
Jammu and Kashmir where only certain provisions
related to the importation of specified poisons into are
applicable.

4.  Regulate and control the import , possession and sale of poisons.
 Central government regulates imports
 State government regulates possession , possession for sale and
sale poisons.

5.  The import of poisons is permitted only by person to
have been granted liecence for the purpose by the
central Government .
 Such persons may import poison across one of the
defined custom frontiers and in accordance with the
condition of the liecence

7.  The poisons the record maintained for their sale are
subject to inspection , by persons authorised in this
behalf by the state governments.
 The state government are also empowered to regulate
the possession of any specified poison in any local area
.

8.  List A:- Aconite , Arsenic , Coca , Digitalis , lead
etc
 List B:- Essential oils of almonds Chloroform ,
Carbolic acid , All oxides of mercury , Sulphonal
Zinc Chloride etc .

9. The District Magistrate , Sub –divisonal
Magistrates and the Commissioner of police
have been empowered to issue warrants for the
search of any place , where they have reasons
to believe or suspect that a contraband poison is
sold , kept or concealed.
