We have muscles around many of these bones.

Language skills
4. Contextual
element
Reading, listening, speaking and writing.
(cultural) This unit is about our body. They can identify their own body and the
parts of it.
5. Cognitive (thinking)
processes
Scaffold, understand, repeat, analyse, explain.
6. (a) Task(s)
The final task consists on describing how their body moves. They are
going to label the parts of the body we use to move in a poster. Then,
they can act an easy play out in small groups to the rest of the class
explaining how their body moves and the name of the parts they are
moving.
6. (b) Activities
1. Look at a picture and revise the vocabulary from previous years by
writing the missing vowels.
2. Watch a short slide show (Bones, joints and muscles), without too
many words.
3. After that, we watch the video “Body parts chant (This is … / These
are…) and play the game ‘Labelling game’.
4. Complete the sheet by labelling the joints in our body.
5. We now watch a show about “The locomotor system” and they read
and listen to “The parts of the body” (at Andalucía’s CLIL unit). Then,
they complete the blank spaces (page 11). We can use the previous
4. pages (from 6 to 10) as reminders, but they also can help our students
to scaffold the information: they review the already studied parts of the
body by doing activities of ordering, classification or filling the spaces
after reading:

ml/pdf/025.pdf
6. Then, they read and explain with their own words an “issuu” show
about the locomotor system.
7. To finish, they watch the song “Superman Dance” and, following the
instructions, they move. Their final task is, in small groups, to write a
version of the “Superman Dance”. They have to use the parts of the
body they have just learnt that didn’t appear on the video.
7. Methodology
Organization and class 2 sessions and the final task in small groups to act or sing and dance
distribution / timing
their “Superman Dance” versions.
At the end of the class, we can play an online Memory game with
several options (only wordcards OR flashcards, wordcards AND
flashcards, …):
