NRI couple Aravinda Pillalamarri and Ravi Kuchimanchi returned to India in 1998 after quitting their
jobs in the US.
The duo first visited the villages affected by the Sardar Sarovar dam in 1998 after reading about the
Narmada Bachao Andolan. They came upon the village of Bilgaon in Maharashtra. For 55 years after
Independence, Bilgaon had not seen electricity.
What Aravinda and Ravi did notice was a 9-metre high waterfall of sorts which could very well have
been utilised to generate electricity.
The Bilgaon Project started in May 2002 and done by January 2003.
This is the inspiration behind what?

X believes in the philosophy of sarvodaya and collective ownership. It accepts all its working
members as the owners and an equal partaker in both profit and loss.
The members are co-owners and fondly referred to as "sisters". All the decisions are based on
consensus and any member-sister has the right to veto a decision.
Men can only be salaried employees (accountants, drivers or security guards), and not the members
of the organisation (i.e. they are not the owners).

There is a big conspiracy theory behind some of the deaths of Indian scientists and people who
supported them.
On 10th January 1966 X died in Tashkent due to heart attack but no medical inquiry was conducted
to ascertain the cause of his death. But his wife said that he was poisoned.
Exactly 14 days later, on 24th January 1966 an Air India flight 101, a Boeing 707 plane, from Bombay
to London crashed near Mont Blanc, in the alps. One of its passenger was Y, who was on his way to
Vienna to attend IAEA conference but was killed instead in the crash. Conspirators have pointed
towards the CIA as having done the deed.
Then of course is the mysterious death of Z. Death came to him in a quiet room of his favourite
resort on Kovalam beach after he had witnessed firing of a Russian rocket and inaugurated Thumba
railway station to retire for the night. Here too there was no scientific enquiry into his death.

X was born at the nativity mission center, Pune District in a Chitpavan Brahmin family. His father
was a postal employee.
At birth, he was named Ramachandra. X was given his name because of an unfortunate incident.
Before he was born, his parents had three sons and a daughter, with all three boys dying in their
infancy. Fearing a curse that targeted male children, young Ramachandra was brought up as a girl
for the first few years of his life, including having his nose pierced and being made to wear a nose-
ring .
It was then that he earned the nickname X (literally "Ram with a nose-ring"). After his younger
brother was born, they switched to treating him as a boy.

However, amongst the three, Deshpande became insanely popular as a regional newspaper carried
her picture with a short write up that claimed that she belonged to Nagpur.
However, to clear all the airs regarding these hoaxes, Mayank Shah, group product manager at X
revealed the actual truth behind the girl. It's actually an illustration by an Everest creative back in

According to medieval Hindu mythology, the origin of the festival can be found in the ancient
legend of samudra manthan. The legend tells of a battle between the Devas and Asuras for amrita,
the drink of immortality. During samudra manthan, or churning of the ocean, amrita was produced
and placed in a X . To prevent the asuras (malevolent beings) from seizing the amrita, a divine
carrier flew away with X. In one version of the legend, the carrier of the X is the divine
physician Dhanavantari, who stops at four places where the festival is celebrated.
In other re-tellings, the carrier is Garuda, Indra or Mohini, who spills the amrita at four places.

 The earliest evidence for the X dates back to the Renaissance period. The oldest X design
appears in an anonymous manuscript from 1470s Renaissance Italy, showing a free-hanging man
clutching a cross bar frame attached to a conical canopy. As a safety measure, four straps run
from the ends of the rods to a waist belt.
 Shortly after, a more sophisticated X was sketched by Leonardo da Vinci in 1485.Here, the scale
of the X is in a more favorable proportion to the weight of the jumper. Leonardo's canopy was
held open by a square wooden frame, which alters the shape of the X from conical to pyramidal.
 Today's modern X’s are classified into two categories – ascending and descending canopies. Some
modern X are classified as semi-rigid wings, which are maneuverable and can make a controlled
descent to collapse on impact with the ground.
