* By using both Michael Kors F/W 14/15 runway and
Tory Burch F/W 14/15 runway, the new Banana
Republic F/W 15/16 will be based off the designer’s
colors and silhouettes.
*For example, Michael Kors and Tory Burch’s use of
elongated waists and full sleeve lengths in addition
to their earth tone colors will be used for Banana
Republic’s new collection. This will serve the
customer’s liking of simplicity.

14. 2. Stripe Influence
Without repeating the same
exact stripes, the look of faded
and blended stripes gives it a
new and refreshed look. The
stripes will be slightly thicker, yet
blended into the body color,
clearing it of sharp edges. This is
appropriate for Banana
Republic’s target audience
because it is suitable,
conservative and refined. The
blended look will give the
product a more innovative edge,
but still fit into Banana’s aesthetic
of simplistic and minimal design.
This is why this print will be ideal:
it’s unique yet accessible, which
is what the consumer has
reacted to positively in the past.
Note: We will NOT have any
vertical stripes.

It currently relates to this
product because it’s still
striped, and will continue to
have its faux leather shoulder
padding, however it will give it
a softer touch of color stripes. It
will also still have the zipper on
the back. However, only the
front panel of the garment will
be striped – sleeves and back
will be a solid color.
It’s an updated version of the
current striped garment.

Peter Pilotto’s F/W 2014 (right) featured thicker stripes in their knit tops. Notice
that the stripes stay in the center of the front panel (and the center of the
back panel), rather than going all the way around.
Paul Smith’s (left) runway shows color blocks with details around the collar.
By using these inspirations from both designers, the new updated version will
have different sized stripes from before, to give it a more color block
appearance taken from the runway. It will also be conservative enough for
Banana Republic’s customers.

The new stripes will be a direct print
throughout the whole front of the
garment, excluding the back and
sleeves.

Inspired by Peter Pilotto and Paul Smith’s F/W 14/15
collection, his stripes are thick, as well as centered on the
front. The repeat is top to bottom, not including side to
side. Each dark stripe will be approximately 1 ½ inches thick
(although, it’ll be blended) and 1 ¼ inches apart.
