- 2. Brainstorming -the process whereby writers come up with ideas to write about. - it is an informal way of generating topics to write about, or points to make about your topic. It can be done at any point along the writing process.
- 3. Two Steps: •Generate ideas •Decide which ideas are good and which one aren’t useful.
- 4. Types: 1. Round Robin -is a brainstorming technique that is used in groups.
- 5. 2. Word Webs -also called WEBBING. -it provides structure for ideas and facts. It provides a flexible framework for idea development and can assist with organizing and prioritizing information.
- 6. 3. Free-Form Brainstorming -someone will present a topic then think about possible questions and formulate possible responses.
- 7. 4. Listing or “Free-Writing” - used to help generate and record ideas. -it is a technique in which you jot down a list of words, phrases and ideas under a particular topic.
- 8. 5. Mind Map -a great way to brainstorm and generate more ideas. -it helps you create a number of small ideas from one big idea.
- 9. 6. Snowballing -involves the sharing of ideas through the expanding of groups.
- 10. 7. Stepladder Brainstorming -can be used to introduce a topic. -it can help when studying on test or can be used to assess learning.
- 11. Graphic Organizer -is a visual display that demonstrates relationships between facts, concepts or ideas. -guides the learner’s thinking as they fill upon the visual map or diagram.
- 12. Types: 1.Concept Map -used to help to organize and represent knowledge of a subject.
- 13. 2. Web -a visual map that shows how different categories of information relate to one another.
- 14. 3. Mind Maps -a visual presentation of hierarchical information that includes a central idea surrounded by connected branches of associated topics.
- 15. 4. Topic Outline and Sentence Outline - topic outline list words or phrases. A sentence outline list complete sentences. A topic outline arranges your ideas.
