It’s time to connect! The West African Connecting Seminar (WACS) will bring
together over one hundred young leaders from 11 different countries of
AIESEC in West Africa to strengthen their collaboration and boost our impact
for sustainable development. The 2015 edition will take place in Senegal!

It is a conference for the West African
Countries of AIESEC to connect and
develop solutions to drive sustainable
development in AIESEC as a whole and in
West Africa in particular. After Côte d’Ivoire
in 2008, Ghana in 2009, Senegal in 2010,
Benin in 2011, Nigeria in 2012, Liberia in
2013 and Ghana in 2014, Senegal is proud
to host the 8th edition of WACS which will
take place from 14 – 19 October 2015.
During five intensive days of interaction, work, and sharing, over 200 young Leaders
from more than 11 countries and national and international Partners and will meet to
discuss about relevant issues which will affect our sub-region and propose practical
and applicable solutions .

was born in aspiration of a multinational
cooperation for social and cultural
exchange between AIESEC entities in
West Africa.

Senegal is known to be Teranga Land. Senegalese people are hospitable and
welcoming. In Senegal, we have a lot ofethnic groups, religions and communities. But
people live in peace.
The Senegalese main dish is “Thiebou Diene” (rice and fish). There are also other
plates like “Mafé”. In Senegal, we usually eat with the whole family from the same plate,
that makes the food more enjoyable. The “Bissap“ juice is very popular in Senegal.

5. CULTURE
Senegalese culture is characterized
particularly by his liking for the traditional
sports, music, dance, clothing, the
ingenious and creative art and craftwork,
and the convivial moments during meals
and feasts.
In Senegal, the most important traditional
sport is wrestling. It is a fight between two
men and the one who is down first loses.
The sabaar is the main music instrument of Senegal. The most common music is mbalax.
There is a show called false lion. In fact, the false lion are real men who dress up as a lion.

6. TOURISM
The beautiful island of Gorée lies off the
coast of Dakar. It is an important landmark
for humanity with it’s history as largest
slave-trading center.
Saint-Louis in the north of the country has
many landmarks like the Faidherbe bridge.
The pink lake is one of the most popular
tourist destinations for visitors of the capital
Dakar.
