 Protect the residence hall and the residents inside.
RAs and Night Staff work together to ensure
quality safety.

4. Know your area!
Night Staff doesn’t necessarily live inside the
residence halls, so they may not be familiar with the
location of everything. It is up to the RAs to assist
Night Staff when dealing with unfamiliar areas.

5. Duty Responsibilities
WHAT DO WE DO WHEN WE ARE ON CALL?

6. Call In
 Professional staff leave their offices at 5:00PM.
 RAs call the Hall Coordinator on-call cell phone
between 4:45-5:00PM
 RA states name, area, and date of on-call
 RA on-call name is indicated on calendar or on-call
board.

7. Evening Rounds
 Rounds – the RA on-call walks through the building
taking note of maintenance issues and being social
with residents.
 Weekdays – 2 rounds
 Weekends – 3 rounds

8. Support for Night Staff
 On-call RA remains in the building.
 After rounds, Night Staff become primary eyes and
ears of the building.
 On-call RAs stand by for a Night Staff phone call.

 Determine if HC should be called.
