2. Necessity of Duty: Why We’re On-Call
Safety, safety, safety!
Protect the residence hall and the residents inside.
RAs and Night Staff work together to ensure
quality safety.
3. What We Do
“Call In” or check in with the Hall Coordinator On
Call at 5 p.m.
We are on call from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. the next
morning
We do rounds throughout the night when we walk
through the halls, checking on both equipment and
residents
We address issues that are encountered during a
round or communicated to us through residents or
phone calls from you or people working the desk
before your shift
4. How We Can Help You
Since Night Staff doesn’t necessarily live inside the
residence halls and may not be familiar with the
location of everything, it is up to the RAs to assist
you when dealing with unfamiliar areas.
5. Getting to Know You
RAs working the desk until midnight should greet
Night Staff when they arrive.
RAs working 8 a.m. desk shifts should greet Night
Staff when they take over.
On-call RA should introduce themself during rounds
Ask Night Staff if they need anything when you see
them working the desk
