THE EFQM EXCELLENCE MODEL
 A Framework to help organizations convert the
Fundamental Concepts and RADAR logic into practice.
3 INTEGRATED COMPONENTS WHICH COMPRISE THE
EFQM MODEL
The RADAR logic is an assessment
framework & a management tool to provide a
structured approach for questioning &
analysing the performance of ASE by CII.
 The Excellence Model presents an
integrated approach to performance
management in that it provides the basis to
assess how well the things are done.
 The performance of the organisation is also
assessed in terms of the results that are
achieved
 The five enablers assess and
question whether there are effective
approaches in place to enable the
achievement of what the organisation
has planned to deliver in terms of its
results.
 The four results areas question
whether there are comprehensive
measures in place which can monitor
and track performance, and assess
whether strategic objectives have
been met.
 The link between the Enablers and the Results is two
way. If there is a need to improve the results, then a
change to one or more enabling factors needs to take
place. In the same way, if a change to an enabling
factor is made, the impact this will have on the results
needs to be tracked and traced.
 Core team formed provides a score using the Radar tool.
 A score can be derived using RADAR following a self-
assessment by:
• Providing critical evaluation of evidence.
• Giving a benchmark score.
 Scoring is not an exact science
 People’s perceptions of excellence are different
 People’s understanding of the criteria are different
 People’s understanding of the Radar logic are different
 Levels of excellence

 To know ”how good our organisation actually is” – the yardstick is the framework
and assessment model of management widely used in Europe (EFQM)
 Exhaustive feedback report of a team of experienced assessors of the

  • 5. FUNDAMENTAL CONCEPTS OF EXCELLENCE  Basic principles which are the essential foundation of achieving sustainable excellence for any organization. THE EFQM EXCELLENCE MODEL  A Framework to help organizations convert the Fundamental Concepts and RADAR logic into practice. 3 INTEGRATED COMPONENTS WHICH COMPRISE THE EFQM MODEL
  • 6. The RADAR logic is an assessment framework & a management tool to provide a structured approach for questioning & analysing the performance of ASE by CII.
  • 7.  The Excellence Model presents an integrated approach to performance management in that it provides the basis to assess how well the things are done.  The performance of the organisation is also assessed in terms of the results that are achieved
  • 8.  The five enablers assess and question whether there are effective approaches in place to enable the achievement of what the organisation has planned to deliver in terms of its results.
  • 9.  The four results areas question whether there are comprehensive measures in place which can monitor and track performance, and assess whether strategic objectives have been met.
  • 10.  The link between the Enablers and the Results is two way. If there is a need to improve the results, then a change to one or more enabling factors needs to take place. In the same way, if a change to an enabling factor is made, the impact this will have on the results needs to be tracked and traced.
  • 11.  Core team formed provides a score using the Radar tool.  A score can be derived using RADAR following a self- assessment by: • Providing critical evaluation of evidence. • Giving a benchmark score.  Scoring is not an exact science  People’s perceptions of excellence are different  People’s understanding of the criteria are different  People’s understanding of the Radar logic are different
