•KoyamparambathSatchidanandanwasbornin1946inPulloot,avillageinKodungallurintheThrissurdistrictofKerala.Afterhisearlyeducationinthevillageschool,hestudiedbiologyatChristCollege,IrinjalakudaandhadhismastersinEnglishfromMaharaja'sCollege,Ernakulam.HeobtainedhisPhDinpost- structuralismpoeticsfromtheUniversityofCalicut.HejoinedasaLecturerinEnglishatK.K.T.M.College,Pullootin1968,andmovedtoChristCollegein1970wherehebecameaProfessorofEnglish.Hevoluntarilyretiredfromthispostin1992totakeuptheeditorshipofIndianliterature,theEnglishjournaloftheIndianNationalAcademyinDelhi.In1996hewasnominatedSecretary,thechiefexecutive,oftheacademy,apostfromwhichheretiredin2006.LaterheservedasaconsultanttotheIndianGovernment'sDepartmentofHigherEducationandtotheNationalTranslationMission.Hecurrentlyeditsbeyondborders,ajournalofsouthAsianliteratureandideas.Satchidanandanismarried,withtwodaughters.
