2. WHAT IS PMGSY…?
PMGSY stands for Pradhan Mantri
Gram Sadak Yojana.
It is a Centrally Sponsored
Scheme.
It was introduced in 2000 by the
then Prime Minister Of India Shri
Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Shri
Prabhjot Singh .
3. MAIN OBJECTIVE OF PMGSY…
To provide good all-weather road
connectivity to unconnected
villages.
To provide necessary culverts and
cross-drainage structures.
To provide a better way of
communication in remote areas.
4. THE AREAS THOSE ARE UNDER THIS
PROJECT…
Hill States (North-
East, Sikkim, Himachal
Pradesh, Jammu &
Kashmir, Uttaranchal)
Desert Areas (as
identified in the
Desert Development
Programme)
The Tribal areas
5. TOTAL COST OF THE PROJECT…
It is estimated that the total
investment required to meet
the new connectivity targets is
of the order of Rs 79,000
crores with another Rs. 53,000
crore required for other
auxiliary purposes.

JnNURM STANDS FOR Jawaharlal
Nehru National Urban Renewal
Mission.
a massive city-modernisation
scheme launched by the
Government of India under
Ministry of Urban Development.
7. INITIATIVE OF THE PROJECT…
The initiative of the project was taken by
Government of India under Ministry of
Urban Development.
the scheme was officially inaugurated by
prime minister Manmohan Singh on 3
December 2005.
JnNURM was a huge mission which relates
primarily to development in the context of
urban ares focusing to the Indian cities.
8. OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT..
Focused attention relating to infrastructural
services in the context of integrated
development of the urban area.
Planned development of identified cities
including semi-urban areas so that
urbanization takes place in a successful
manner.
To start urban renewal programme, i.e., re-
development of inner (old) cities area to
reduce congestion.
9. ABOUT OF THE PROJECT…
The duration of the project was 7
years from December 2005 to 31
March 2014.
Total investment of over $20
billion has been done for this
project.
About 67 cities across the INDIA
was under this massive project.
10. CONCLUSION..
Both of the projects was based on
sustainable development of INDIA.
The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana
was focused on the RURAL development
on the other hand The Jawaharlal Nehru
National Urban Renewal Mission was
based on the development of URBAN
areas.
Together these two project wear the
pioneer of a developed INDIA.
