Perform Quality Control
 The project management team may have working knowledge of
statistical quality control, especially sampling, and probability, to
help it evaluate quality control outputs.
 Remember the differences:
 Prevention (keeping errors out of the process) and inspection
(keeping errors out of the hands of the customer)
 Special causes (unusual events) and random causes (normal
process variation)

 Attribute sampling (the result conforms or it not) and variable
sampling (the result is rated on continuous scale that measures the
degree of conformity)
 Tolerances (the result is acceptable if it falls within the range
specified by the tolerance) and control limits (the process is in
control if the result falls within the control limits)

Project Management Plan
• Contains Quality Management Plan which describes quality assurance and continuous
process improvement approaches.
Quality Metrics
• Provides attributes that should be measured and controlled.
Work Performance Data
• Planned vs. actual data for cost, time, quality etc.
Approved Change requests
• Timely implementation of approved CRs should be monitored.
Deliverables
• A goal of QC is to determine the correctness of deliverables.

Quality Checklists
• To verify work satisfied predefined requirements.
Quality Control measurements
• Used to analyze and evaluate quality of processes.

Statistical Sampling
• Choosing part of a population of interest for inspection.
Inspection (reviews, audits, walkthroughs)
• Examination of work product to determine whether it conform to standards. Results of
inspection include measurements.
Defect Repair Review
• Is an action taken to ensure that product defects are repaired and brought into compliance
with specifications or requirements.

Perform Quality Control: Outputs
 Quality Control Measurements
 represent the results of QC activities that are fed back to QA to re-evaluate and analyze the
quality standards and processes of the performing organization.
 Validated changes
 the changed repaired items are re-inspected and will be either accepted or rejected before
notification of the decision is provided. Rejected items may require further rework.
 Verified Deliverables
 A goal of QC is to determine the correctness of deliverables
 Work Performance Information
 Data coming from controlling cost, time, quality etc.
 Change requests
 if recommended corrective/preventive actions require changes to project management plan,
change request should be initiated.

Project Document updates
• Updates to Quality audit reports, Training plan and process documentation.
Project Management Plan (updates)
• Updates include incorporation of processes that have been through continuous process
improvement and are ready to repeat the cycle, and improvements to processes that have
been identified and measured, and are ready to be implemented.
Organizational Process Assets (updates)
• Updated quality standards provide validation of the effectiveness and efficiency of the
performing quality standards and processes to meet requirements.
