3. Mobile Phone Application Example: MyMedSchedule
This smartphone app allows users to enter their medication and dosage
information, schedule reminders and then set “push notification”-style alerts when
it’s time for the next dose.

4. Patient Portal Example: eClinicalWorks
Patient portals are secure websites that allow patients to submit prescription refill
requests. A study in the Journal of Medical Internet Research shows patients with
portal access are more likely to stick to their prescribed medication regime.

5. Home TV Messaging Example: IndependaTV
IndependaTV is software embedded in LG Smart TVs. This lets users program
reminders throughout the day for important events or daily routines. These alerts
pop up on the screen whenever it’s time to take a medication.

6. Electronic Pill Box Example: SIMpill
This electronic pill box that tracks a patient’s medication intake. If they miss a
dose, the patient or an assigned caregiver (e.g., family member) receives a text
message alert in real time.

7. Electronic Pill Bottle Cap Example: eCAP
This electronic pill bottle cap is designed to fit a standard medication vial. The
embedded software records every time the cap is opened. When it’s time to refill a
prescription, users can download compliance data and see it on a mobile device.
