4. 4th Meeting of the Global Soil Laboratory Network (GLOSOLAN)
What contribution can GLOSOLAN give to the analysis of soil
biological parameters? Proposals for discussion
Proposal Approved/
Declined
Collaboration with SoilBON Collaboration with
Fields4ever
Harmonization of SOPs Approved X X (for DNA especially)
Preparation of training
material
Approved X X
Training Approved They are working on a programme for
Africa.
The goal is to have all labs doing the
analysis…and eventually send samples to
SoilBON
For the methods used by
Fields4ever
Procurement of equipment
(criteria to identify labs to
support, TBD)*
Approved They are working on a programme for
Africa*

Analysis of soil samples for
countries (comparison of
results)
Approved X
Everybody sending 4 samples can be listed
as co-author in scientific papers. The idea is
be inclusive

Support labs, NASOLAN and
country initiatives* also
through experience sharing
Approved X X
*Need to develop a long term strategy on this with a strong focus on the transfer of knowledge
5. 4th Meeting of the Global Soil Laboratory Network (GLOSOLAN)
What contribution can GLOSOLAN give to the analysis of soil
biological parameters? Proposals for discussion
The organization of inter-laboratory comparisons might not be possible due to
custom control procedures requiring soil samples to be sterilized prior shipment.
However, GLOSOLAN encourages the organization of national PTs
Details on how to implement this work plan to be discussed between the GLOSOLAN
Technical Committee, SoilBON and Fields4Ever.
Decisions to be included in the 4th GLOSOLAN report and shared with GLOSOLAN
members.
