under Pillar 1
Protocol for the assessment of sustainable soil management
• Developed by GSP and it’s ITPS at the 8th session of the
GSP plenary Assembly in June 2020

Y We do want to include pollution
somehow as many partners
want to include them.
On ecosystem services as well: It
important to add some item about
regulating services for adding
fertilizers because this issue
involved climate smart agriculture,
soil pollution as well as control
emission of gases.
Y The final proposal is to evaluate
the pollution risk in the
preliminary analysis of the
context, and include soil
pollution as an additional
indicator.
It is important that all the samples
from the top soil (30cm) as
mentioed is 1 SOC.

5. Attend the 8th GSP plenary Assembly 3-5 June 2020
virtually using Zoom platform

6. • Attend an International scientific seminar of the world day of
desertification organized by the center of Desert studies in the
university if Anbar in cooperation with ASCAD, many
universities in Iraq and Egypt and ministry of Agriculture in
Tunisia.
This seminar focused on sustainable management methods and
neutralizing land degradation.

under Pillar 2
Soil doctor ……
National working group for GSP :
coordination with the directorate of Agricultural Extension
and Training which its aims:-
- Build farmers knowledge abilities through Extension
activities and training courses .
- Capacity building of the workers in Agricultural in the
governorates.
- Transfer new Agricultural technologies through cooperation
with Universities and Research Centers.

16. 3-Editorial Board of the soil Atlas for Asia
Soil Classification map of IRAQ according (WRB)
Finalise and delivered Iraqi Soil classification map according to World
Reference Base (WRB) as a part of Soil Atlas of ASIA activities with
following GIS requirements:
1. Shapefile file format.
- Defined Coordinate system.
- Correct geometry using FAO
country border.
2. Attributes with following columns:
- WRB_Soil_Name
- Qualifier_1
- Qualifier_2
3. Correct naming in the attributes.

soil Atlas of Asia which will take place from 24 to 27

23. Objectives of the INSAS
provide a platform for countries with salt-affected soils to discuss common
issues related to the conservation and sustainable management of salt-

Foster collaboration among these countries towards promoting the
sustainable use and management of salt-affected soils and identify relevant
research gaps.
Serve as a platform for knowledge sharing and technical cooperation on
salt-affected soils management.

National activities monitoring for Iraqi lab content General information. This report submitted on 28-2-

 information on the procedure we are using for implementing the methods of soil analysis. For the methods
we are already used for measuring total nitrogen by using the Kjedhal or Dumas methods, measuring
phosphorous by using the Olsen-P method, measuring electrical conductivity EC in water (ratio 1:5),
measuring electrical conductivity EC using the saturated paste extraction method, measuring pH in water or
KCl or CaCl2, measuring organic carbon by using the Tyurin method. This report submitted in 15/3/2020.

 NENA Soil Laboratory Network (NENALAB) of the harmonized SOPs on available P by Mehlich
III, mineral N by colorimetric method and extractable NO3 & NH4 by distillation methods which performed
on our labs. The answers with correction and notes were submitted on 15/4/2020.

Upon the participation in the GLOSOLAN PT 2019. GLOSOLAN carefully analyzed the PT results we were
already submitted the data and GLOSOLAN team ask to give an assessment of the process and lab analysis
performed as well as how to help our laboratory in terms of training. The answer were submitted in
15/4/2020.

28. Virtual meeting
Meeting (KOM) for the IEEE P4005 Soil Spectral Measurement Protocol Group which
had been take place on Wednesday 6 May 2020, 08:30-10:15 at the EGU venue Vienna in
room 2.17.
 8th Global Soil Partnership Plenary Assembly. The session had been held virtually from
3rd to 5th June 2020 (12:00-14:30 PM CEST) using the Zoom platform.
 "Webinar on the implementation of the International Code of Conduct for the
Sustainable Use and Management of Fertilizers" that was held in May 19, 2020 02:00 PM
Amsterdam, Berlin, Rome, Stockholm, Vienna.
 standard protocol and scheme for measuring soil spectroscopy first meeting that was
held in 4/6/2020.

29.  2nd of "Standard Protocol and Scheme for Measuring Soil Spectroscopy
Working Group" that was held in 21st of July 2020 (15:00 – 16:30CEST).
 GLOSOLAN a plenary meeting on spectroscopy to present, discuss and
improve its work plan on the topic. 24-25/9/2020.
 3rd meeting of Standard Protocol and Scheme for Measuring Soil Spectroscopy
Working Group IEEE P4005 Working Group Meeting #3 8 th of October 2020 /
15:00 – 16:30 (CEST).
 4th GLOSOLAN meeting that was take place from 11 to 13 November 2020
from 11AM to 1:30PM CEST.
