Jordan has implemented several activities under the UNCCD's Pillars of action. Under Pillar 1, Jordan adopted sustainable land use plans using soil data and remote sensing to improve conservation measures, forests, rangelands, and water sources. Jordan also passed new soil protection legislation. Under Pillar 2, Jordan created agricultural maps, trained students and engineers in soil science and sustainable practices. Under Pillar 3, Jordan developed a roadmap to utilize agricultural lands with support from investment and youth groups. Under Pillar 4, Jordan conducted soil surveys, mapping, and trained staff in sustainable land use. Under Pillar 5, Jordan joined GLOSOLAN and worked to reduce costs of soil analysis for farmers through workshops.

2. Main activities implemented in the country
under Pillar 1
1- We started to adopt sustainable land use plans and sustainable
management of the land resources:
-High Land Project, Establishing soil conservatives measures like
stone walls, terraces etc.
-Forest,( Reforestation projects ,forest reserves, forest production)
-Rangelands Improving Project.
-improving the water sources.
all the above with the aid of legacy soil data by using the
contemporary tools of remote sensing and GIS to enhances the
sustainable land use.
2- Legislations with Significant Impacts on soil protections: Land Use
Bylaw No.6, 2007, Soil Protection Instructions No(z/8) Agricultural
law No. 13 year 2015.

3. Main activities implemented in the country
under Pillar 2:
-Agriculture map for 19 dnum.
-Providing and training postgraduate students 12 in soil
calcifications, digital mapping and land use specifications.
-Training of joiner agricultural engineers in the fields of land use,
irrigation, water productivity and fertilizers applications.

5. What will your country do on the World Soil Day?
Due to the Corona pandemic, we were unable to hold
the World Soil Day.

Road map to exploit agricultural lands in Jordan :

7. Main activities implemented in the country
under Pillar 4:
-Soil survey ,digital soil map ,GIS and classify Arable land areas
suitably for agriculture.
-Training joiner staff to insure government follow up of the
sustainability land use activities.
-Provide the Jordanian government with an experienced soil
mapping.
-Adapting the Roth-C model for the turnover of carbon in the soil
in Jordan.
-Produced the national soil salinity map on a 0-30cm & 30-
100cm depth

8. Main activities implemented in the country
under Pillar 5:
Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) was joined the GLOSAN and
nominated governmental soil lab at National agriculture
Research Center (NARC) .
Reducing the costs of soil and water samples analysis
for farmers.
Workshops have been held with farmers to introduce
them to the best methods of taken soil sampling.
Communication with farmers, as well as with laboratories,
have been facilitated more than ever due to the Corona
pandemic.
