Visiting London’s museums and galleries can be an experience for the senses as much as for the brain and London has some of the best places to stimulate both.  London  is home to some of the most interesting museums in Britain, and indeed the world. There are so many excellent museums and galleries in London
The British Museum  in London is a museum of human history and culture. Its collections, which number more than 13 millions objects, are amongst the largest and most comprehensive all over the world .
The Museum was founded 250 years ago as an encyclopedia of nature and art. Today it is no longer houses collections of natural history, and the books and manuscripts. It once held now form part of the independent British Library.   The Museum nevertheless preserves in its collections of artefacts representing the cultures of the world, ancient and modern.
The Natural History Museum  is one of three large museums on Exhibition Road, South Kensington, London (the others are the Science Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum). The museum is home to life and earth science specimens comprising some 70 million items within five main collections: Botany, Entomology, Mineralogy, Palaeontology and Zoology.
This exciting museum has to be one of the finest museums of nature in the world. Highlights include the ongoing ‘Nature Live’ events, where you can discover more about the work of the museum’s curators and researchers.
The museum is particularly famous for its exhibition of dinosaur skeletons, and ornate architecture.
The Geological Museum  –  now the   Red Zone  – started life in 1841 as part of the Geological Survey.

The Science Museum   was founded in 1857 under Bennet Woodcroft from the collection of the Royal Society of Arts and surplus items from the Great Exhibition. It was initially part of the South Kensington Museum, together with what is now the Victoria and Albert Museum .
The Victoria and Albert Museum  is one of three major museums, along with the Natural History Museum and Science Museum, that are in close proximity to each other in the Knightsbridge area of west London. Combining visits to all three will easily fill a day and the best part is they’re all free.
The National Gallery The National Gallery  in London, founded in 1824, houses a rich collection of over 2,300 paintings dating from the mid-13th century to 1900 in its home on Trafalgar Square.
