The History of Spotify
With 24 million active users, you’ve probably heard of us. Whether you
understand our name is a different story.
 
Before we delve into that, let’s take a brief look at the history of Spotify.
 
For the past few decades,
Piracy has plagued the music industry. From bootleg cassettes and CDs to illegal
downloads, labels and artists alike have seen diminished sales and royalties. In
2006, Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon had a vision to make music available to
everyone, everywhere - free, instantly and legally. Spotify is the realization
of that vision.

Spotify has integrated with Facebook, adapted to mobile and
tablet apps and worked with global brands and agencies on a
daily basis. The introduction of ads in 2008 has helped fuel
these developments, ensuring artists receive the
royalties they deserve.
Spotify offers an ad-supported tier and a paid subscription
premium tier. Brands have their choice of advertising with
media solutions as well as branded experiences. From audio
and display ads to homepage takeovers, branded playlists and
brand profiles, Spotify Ads offers brands a way to connect with
