2. This library is meant to replace the current
forest home library. Since the new site
is not actually on Forest Home Avenue
I wanted to find a way to connect the
new library to the old one. In order to do
that I mirrored the angle of Forest Home
Avenue and used that angle to cut
through the building. This space is used as
a ways to announce the entrance and
house community spaces. It also sepa-
rates the adult space from the children’s
space.

study the umbrella like sun shades,
called mashrabiya, on the ADIC towers
in Dhabi. As a group we had to learn
how the mashrabiya worked then try to
make a model of them that operated in

State Park Velodrome is an individual de-
sign project based on origami. There are
three types of folding panels that are laid
out in a hexagonal grid on the surface
of the building. These panels are able
to be open and closed in order to allow
daylighting but prevent solar glare. These
panels also create an active façade on
the interior and the exterior during events.
This gives the building a way to communi-
cate with the public.

shadow of its past. The state of the
park reminded me of a building that
had been left to ruins so that became
the concept for my design. The design
consists of thick walls that represent
the bits of the past left behind and
the thin glass and steel act as a way toaa
enclose the structure while keeping a
bit of the open feel.

KERN PARK ELEMENTARY
8. P Park living is a two part project. The first
part of the project was to work with a
group and come up with a design to
rebuild an assigned portion of the Kinn-
ickinnic River what is currently little more
than a concrete drainage ditch. Our
group proposed to create a large marsh.
This would allow for a safe place for flood
waters to go and create habitat wild-
life. We also created islands that would
add additional places for habitat and
be something of interest for people walk-
ing through the park. The images I have
placed on this page were done by me.
