getting reduced in there size &
have lost total or partial
ancestral function or have
evolved to take a new function
in relation to the evolutionary
history.
• Charles Darwin listed a number
of rudimentary human organs.

5.  Transparent 3rd eyelid
 Present in birds, reptiles
 Drawn across the eye from the medial canthus of the eye
 Protection & moisturizing

 But few can do that.

 When humans learned to walk the tail became useless.
 Fused to vertebrae as Coccyx.

 Needed more space & power for chewing.
 But as time went, our diet became softer.
 We developed ways to cook food to make easier to eat.

10. Shrunken remnant of cecum.
Functionally active in remote ancestors of human.
Foliage rich diet pattern.
People began to eat more easily digested foods &
became less reliant on cellulose rich diet for energy.
The cecum became less necessary for digestion &
continued to shrink.
