4. Causes of Drought
• Droughts occur when there is no rainfall from a long period
of time.
• It usually happens in summer, because in summer weather
gets hot and ground evaporate water. So, ground need more
water but it can’t get water so drought occurs.
5. Mitigation
Mitigation means the action of reducing the severity, seriousness or
painful of something
• Agriculturally, people can effectively mitigate much of the impact
of drought through irrigation and crop rotation. Failure to
develop adequate drought mitigation strategies carries a grave
human cost in the modern era, aggravate by ever-increasing
population densities.
6. Effects of drought
Economic Environmental Social
Farms are Disease Food shortage
effected Damage to plants Human deaths
Damage to Erosion of soil Mental stress
crop Reduction of fish water user
Less food habitat conflict
production
7. Case study
At least 330 million people are affected by droughtin India.
1. Case of a Yogita Desai
• Yogita Desai had spent close to 4 hours in 42*C gathering water from the
pump on Sunday.
• She began vomiting due to heatstroke and dehydration and was rushed to
hospital, but she died.
• The droughts cost to our life so, we should know the ways to prevent from
it.
8. Prevention
• First of all, we cannot prevent drought but we should try to
prevent droughts as it causes huge damage.
• To prevent droughts we should preserve as much water as we
can, we should use water in limit.
• We should save rain water in proper ways, and protect under
ground water.
• ……..
9. ....Prevention
• We should plant as much trees as we can.
• We shouldn’t cut down trees for economic purpose or for any
other purpose.
10. Conclusion
• Dry weather causes drought. It usually occurs in summer season
due to hot and dry weather. It mainly causes due to less rainfall.
• Drought effects economic, environment and social resource.
• It can be mitigated by irrigation & crop rotation.
• We can prevent from droughts by using water in proper ways,
growing plants as much as we can and avoid deforestation.
