Social Work Intern August, 2015 – May, 2016
• Developed and integrated a nutritional screening for clients who were part of Ravenwood’s residential program at the
Geauga Youth Center.
• Implemented a therapy group, engaging adolescents who struggled with eating, weight, and body image. This included
psycho educational resources, expression, and processing feelings about self-image.
• Constructed mock intake assessments, and utilized mental status exams, risk assessments, and genograms, in order to
accurately diagnose, assess, and screen clients and refer them to appropriate services.
• Applied evidence-based therapy and milieu skills toward client recovery with counselors. Some areas included group
art therapy, independent living skills coaching, emotions processing, and praising appropriate behavior.
Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare Northfield, OH
Psychology Intern January, 2015 – May, 2015
• Observed psychologists and psychiatrists evaluate patients who were either deemed insane or incompetent to stand
trial in court.
• Created pseudo-competency case evaluations, as well as studied malingering in psychiatric patients.
• Witnessed the use of psychological tests to assess competency, as well as discern the severity of mental illnesses.

• Utilized clinical skills for children aged 7 to 9 with ADHD by incorporating an inclusion of behavioral modification
techniques that focused on antecedents, behaviors, and consequences during recreation, academic social sessions.
• Mastered complete data collection and entry, consistently noting behaviors that were used to identify future goals and
behavioral targets. Implemented individualized treatment programs and tracked medication trials by calculating
behaviors resistant and responsive to treatment.

Ÿ Collected qualitative data through face-to-face and telephone interviews with eleven individuals who participated in
the Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Cleveland program.

University, using a Qualtrics questionnaire consisting of 152 questions.

• Compared the short and long term maladaptive behaviors associated with the risk factors of pro-anorexia websites.
• Investigated the role of genetics and environment that lead into the development of eating disorders, and to the
negatively associated behaviors of perfectionism, secrecy, performance, and the paradoxes of the online anorexia
community.
The Effects of Noise and Time on Anxiety and Recognition (2013) University Heights, OH

• Examined the effects of time and noise as pressures on cognitive performance, through the recognition of terms in a
list, originally used by the original Deese-Roediger-McDermott studies in 1959.
• Analyzed anxiety as an effect of time and noise pressures while participants completed strings of related words from
the State Trait Anxiety Inventory.

Ÿ Transcribed and analyzed the findings, noting the similarities, differences, and implications of collegiate male body perceptions. Ÿ Presented the findings at John Carroll University’s Celebration of Scholarship on April 15, 2015. RESEARCH ASSISTANT Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Cleveland: Program Evaluation (2014) University Heights, OH John Carroll University Faculty Advisor: Dr. Phyllis Harris, PhD August, 2014 – December, 2014 Ÿ Collected qualitative data through face-to-face and telephone interviews with eleven individuals who participated in the Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Cleveland program. Ÿ Explored the themes of homeownership, foreclosure and community sustainability, and program successes. Ÿ Offered recommendations for agency improvements. JCU Que(e)ry (2014 – 2015) University Heights, OH John Carroll University Faculty Advisor: Dr. Tracy Masterson, PhD March, 2014 – May, 2015 • Replicated the original mixed methods study: Que(e)ry: LGBTQ Discrimination Perceptions Survey, a study conducted by Jeffrey Lockhart of Fordham University. • Surveyed the perceptions of bias and discrimination of 318 LGBTQ faculty, staff, and students at John Carroll University, using a Qualtrics questionnaire consisting of 152 questions. Ÿ Presented the insights at John Carroll University’s Celebration of Scholarship on April 13, 2015. COURSE/LABORATORY RESEARCH Pro-Anorexia Websites (2013) University Heights, OH John Carroll University Faculty Advisor: Dr. Denise Ben-Porath, PhD September, 2013 – December 2013 • Compared the short and long term maladaptive behaviors associated with the risk factors of pro-anorexia websites. • Investigated the role of genetics and environment that lead into the development of eating disorders, and to the negatively associated behaviors of perfectionism, secrecy, performance, and the paradoxes of the online anorexia community. The Effects of Noise and Time on Anxiety and Recognition (2013) University Heights, OH John Carroll University Faculty Advisor: Dr. Angela Jones, PhD August, 2013 – December, 2013 • Examined the effects of time and noise as pressures on cognitive performance, through the recognition of terms in a list, originally used by the original Deese-Roediger-McDermott studies in 1959. • Analyzed anxiety as an effect of time and noise pressures while participants completed strings of related words from the State Trait Anxiety Inventory.
