List of Projects that I have worked on:
Handwriting Recognition - A Project of the Boeing/Carnegie Mellon Aerospace Data
Analytics Lab
(November 2015 - Present)
This project involves Form Identification, Image Segmentation, and Handwriting Recognition by
using deep neural networks and Computer Vision Techniques. Boeing's Aerospace division has a
lot of forms that contain data pertaining to the flight. This data is recorded by humans by writing
it down on particular forms which are assigned to specific purposes. This data is required to
analyze the load which is carried by flights, the type of authorization, complaints and other
information pertaining to a particular flight. Handwriting recognition must be carried out to
digitize this unstructured data. It is a challenge as the handwriting comes from thousands of
employees and a variety of forms must be recognized. I joined this project in November 2015
and currently we are assessing various ways of de-skewing and de-noising the words and
alphabets from different data sets so that they can be used for training. A complete presentation
of the project plan can be found at the following link:

Screen Based Simulator - WISER Institute and MS-BIC, Carnegie Mellon University
(September 2015 - November 2015)
I became a part of this project in September 2015 before I was moved to the Handwriting
Recognition Project in November 2015. This project simulates a Human Body so that amateur
Anesthesiologists can be trained using a computer based screen simulation to carry out the
necessary medical procedures that are needed to revive the patient from a critical stage. There are
3 components in this simulator:
1) Sandbox (BioGears) - Simulates Patients internal reactions to environment, drugs, gasses, and
other factors
Needs helper modules to communicate with Hub. Implementation done using C++
2) The Hub - Communicates data between the Sandbox and the User Interface. Implemented
using Java and messages are passed using JSON structure.
3) User Interface - Unity5 3D has been used to give the simulation the feel of a game.
I was working on the Sandbox and its integration with the system. My teammates and I
incorporated 2 functionalities: the anesthesia machine and the administration of succinylcholine
into the patient's body.
You can find the code base at:

For the above 2 projects we have used the agile software development technique.
2. Surveillance Video Skimming - University of Mumbai
(July 2014 - April 2015)
Semi Automated Car Surveillance System developed using Matlab and GUIDE with principles
of Information Retrieval and Video/Image Processing. This project was accomplished by setting
some constraints like, ideal lighting conditions, fixed camera positions to efficiently capture the
car's structure, number plate and color such that the features can be easily recognized. This
surveillance system is suitable for enclosed spaces which have constant lighting. The security
and managerial concepts that were retrieved can be used for investigation and analysis by the
users. The Graphical User Interface made it easy to retrieve information in different forms such
as images, summary or skimmed videos and text.
Subsequently further work was done and a technical paper was published:

MyHealthOnline - University of Mumbai
(August 2013 - November 2013)
Medical Information Website that was targeted towards patients and their kin to explore their
options in Medical care services such as hospitals, clinics, pathology labs, chemists/pharmacies
around their preferred location and time. Developed using JavaScript, SQL, HTML and CSS.
Apart from the above projects, I have worked on Search Engine Optimization to
understand how a Search Engine works and how structuring a webpage properly is
important so that it shows up in the first set of results with a better index. We had used
the Indri Search Engine for this task. I have even created a basic web crawler using
python and MySQL.
