The three terminals of the FET are known as Gate, Drain, and Source. It is a voltage controlled device, where the input voltage controls by the output current. In FET current used to flow between the drain and the source terminal. And this current can be controlled by applying the voltage between the gate and the source terminal. So this applied voltage generate the electric field within the device and by controlling these electric field we can control the flow of current through the device.

The metal–oxide–semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET, MOS-FET, or MOS FET) is a type of field-effect transistor (FET). It has an insulated gate, whose voltage determines the conductivity of the device. This ability to change conductivity with the amount of applied voltage can be used for amplifying or switching electronic signals. Although FET is sometimes used when referring to MOSFET devices, other types of field-effect transistors also exist.
