ANIMATION
Topic Outline
oWhat is animation?
oWhat is Virtual Reality?
oInternet Consideration.
ANIMATION
 Is the use of comp generated images
to convey motion.
 The perception of motion in an
animation is an illusion.
 Animation is a series of images
viewed sequentially (one after the
other). Each image depicts a position
and when viewed in succession
illustrates motion.
ANIMATION
 Animation is created by:
Creating a series of still images that
can be shown rapidly creating a
sense of motion.
ANIMASI 2D
ANIMATION
 Frame Animation
 Displays a series of images (frames)
in rapid succession
 Threshold for the human eye to
recognize flicker is 24 frames per
second
 Vector Animation
 Animation is stored as a series of
mathematical equations
 Macromedia has published the Flash
ANIMATION
 Morphing
 Transitions one shape into another
 Uses a series of frames to create a
smooth movement

MORPHING EXAMPLE
2D ANIMATION
 2 types : Cel and Path Animation.
 Cel: based on the changes that occur
from 1 frame to another frame to give
the illusion of movement.
Cel from word celluloid ( transparent
sheet material), used to draw image and
place on stationary background.

2D ANIMATION
 Path : moves an object along a
predetermined path on the screen.
Path can be in straight line or it could
include any number of curves. Object
are not change, can be resized or
reshape.
2D ANIMATION
Use tweening technique, which object is
set beginning position on 1 frame and
end at another frame, the techniques will
fill in the intervening frames.

2D ANIMATION
 Rendering is the final step in creating
animation and involves defining the
object attributes such as color,
surface textures and degree of
transparency.
 It can take considerable time,
depending on the complexity of the
animation.

VIRTUAL REALITY
 Attempts to create an environment that
surrounds the user so that she becomes
part of the experience.
 The term use to describe various types of
applications.
 Flight simulations, landscape, computer
games and etc.

INTERNET CONSIDERATION
 Consider the file size, downloading time of
each frame.
 Usually animation is streamed/buffer
(begin playing the initially downloaded
frame while the rest are being
downloaded).
