My internship started from July 1, 2013 to January 3, 2014.This is a wonderful time I can
practiced knowledge I learned at college.
My internship is a room attendant in Housekeeping department. Room attendant is responsible to
ensure room is always clean and tidy to provide customer satisfaction. My job is to check the
room before you check in or return to the room, change the sheets and make the bed, and clean
the bathroom. I must to do my functions quickly before checkin time. In addition, my functions
also are maintain safety in guest’s room. It’s means I must to learn how to mixing chemical
cleaning in room
B. Description of the Property
On my first day I was surprised when I came to White Lotus Hotel to the internship.
White Lotus Hotel is located in center of Ho Chi Minh city near the center of the triangle Dong
Khoi, Le Loi and Nguyen Hue and just few steps away to the Ben Thanh Market, Diamond Plaza,
Parkson and Vincom shopping center ... In addition, From White Lotus Hotel to Tan Son Nhat
airport about 30 minutes away. It located at 6 Thi Sach Streets, District 1, HCMC.
During internship time at the White Lotus hotel, I worked at the Housekeeping
Department to learn about the major task, clean guest room, and solve problem in room. In the
housekeeping department I was worked two shifts, there are morning shifts and noon shifts.
Every shifts has two worker on duty. White Lotus has six floors. Every floor has 5 rooms, but six
floor has 3 rooms. White Lotus hotel with 38 rooms. All rooms of hotel with all modern facilities.
Having 4 kinds of room, below is White Lotus with different room type:
• Superior rooms:
This is a traditional hotel room with equipment and products such as free water, cold water
heaters ...Superior is divided into 2 types: Single and twin. Accordance with to travel anyone to.

• Deluxe rooms:
These rooms are provided with modern equipment and automation. Providing a full range of
amenities. When you stay at Deluxe room, guests can see panoramic street bustling Saigon. On
the evening of sparkling lights of Saigon at night will make visitors feel more satisfied during
their stay.
Rates: $ 69
• Suite rooms:
Suite with luxurious design. Overlooking the city or the Saigon River
Rates: $ 90
• Lotus Room Suite Room:
Suitable for at home, resting long day in the city. Design and modern luxury
Room rates: $ 100

I was responsible for the room at the 2nd floor and 3rd floor. In addition, product service
mix in White Lotus hotel have some service such as restaurant and coffee bar, laundry, room
service : order food, booking ticket for movie or travel, organization your tour, wedding planning,
and meeting planning.
White Lotus hotel in order to meet the needs of guests. As the service increases value to
the products of the hotel, it includes the following activities:

6. During I worked at hotel, they supported me a lot. For the formal: They usually share
information about my job by verbal presentation. For instance, at the beginning of the summer,
the hotel promotions and discounts for hotel rooms. Therefore, my director for meeting all the
leaders of the department in the hotel for the content presented publicly summer promotions of
the hotel. On the other hand, when informed communication of shifts, my manager paste
schedules publicly at room housekeeping staff. Moreover, my hotel has a private email for
employees. When employees can not see comments directly to the board, they will send email to
present their comments.
The work environment in White Lotus hotel very pleasant and friendly. Although White
Lotus hotel is 3 stars hotel, the attitude of all the staff here are very professional. They are
friendly, and willing to guide my internship work. For example, I had shift on Monday morning.
My responsibility is clean rooms at the 2nd floor. However, at that time, my coworker work in
3rd floor cannot work. I must clean both of floors. Then, my supervisor said that she would work
with me because she known I worked when I studying.
D. Marketing Management
Although I worked at Housekeeping department, I still have been the manager briefed
before they arranged for me internship department. According to the hotel, in recent years, the
target customers of the White Lotus is the European guests.
Currently, the majority foreign tourists of the hotel guests.

E. Human Resource Management
In my workplace, about 56 internship employees in White Hotel. There are 2 employees
in Hotel room and 34 employees in F&B, and I work in Hotel room. For a hourly employees at
White Lotus hotel, the average starting wage is 12,000 VND per hour. Therefore, a hourly
employees can earn more 1 million VND per month. Although they are hourly employee, they
still receive full benefits as full time employee of the hotel. This is major reason White Lotus
always low turnover rate.
F. Operations and Administration
My internship time is worked at housekeeping department. Before started my worked, I presented
with my supervisor about my problem between the time going to school and time for work.
Therefore, I can worked 2 shifts and every shifts has 4 hours on duty. My work started in the
Monday morning. First time, I thought this job would be bored. I started the first day with clean
12 rooms at 2 floors. In fact, I worked with Han my coworker. For beginner, cleaning 12 rooms
per day is large numbers. I was tired. I got a lot mistake although my colleague usually supported
to me. I often forgot how to mix chemical to clean the guest's room. She were very upset when I
asked her again. However, after one week, I started felt closer to work. I can remember each kind
of chemical. The work becomes more interesting.
Before I worked, I usually checked table status rooms that reception provides. After that I

8. prepared all equipment, bed sheets, chemical, linen, water and product of amenities to
complement for guest. Despiste of the fact that White Lotus’s 3 stars hotel, they maintaining
modern equipment such as key rooms sensor, light rooms open off automatically, elevators are
regularly serviced to ensure the safety of guests and employees.
G. Personal Assessment
This internship has had certain important influences on my mind about future career.
Foremost, I believe this internship helps me direct exposure with the theory I learned at college.
Besides, it substantially changed my perception of the work of housekeeping staff. I've worked in
hotels room division. They plays an important role and serve customers while staying at the hotel.
Professional room attendant must be have good knowledge, skills, and abilities needed. I think a
room attendant must have understand about job, good communication skills, organization skills,
basic reading and writing English skills, must be able to answer questions and solve problem
about rooms of guests. All of this skills I learned during my internship in White Lotus hotel. I
decided to develop myself with many task in work. Firstly, I have time management that works
reasonably. It was something I had never previously done. Secondly, I became a responsible
person in job. I am not afraid of difficulties and try to complete assigned tasks. Lastly, I learned
from this internship is teamwork. Last time, I just do alone because I thought worked in team my
opinion would not be develop. However, this internship make me change my mind. My worker
always supported to me in work and they always play their suggestions to improve my job better.
In this part, I want to share some suggest about my experience when I did my internship:
Always on time: When worked in group, I must to follow the rules at that. Be at least 15
20 minutes early every day. That way, help I can prepared all important thing before started
work.
Ask supervisor when I do not understand about something: This will help you make a
mistake in work.
Don’t use a lot of time on your mobile phone: This will prevent you from completing
the work within the time allotted time.
