6. National-level Adoption
orcid.org
Many countries in Europe (and elsewhere) are integrating
ORCID iDs nationally…
• Denmark: The DEFF-funded ORCID implementation
project has the goal of 80% participation by researchers
• Portugal: A nationwide call for all FCT-funded
investigators to register with ORCID.
• Sweden: National research council requires ORCID iDs
for grant applicants
• Italy: Exploring a national consortium for research
evaluation
• Norway: Implementing ORCID iDs in their national
CRIS
• Finland: Want to use ORCID to support national
bibliometrics
7. New group membership
model
orcid.org
We have revised our model for group membership based
on feedback from existing consortia and prospective
national schemes.
CONSORTIUM membership versus NATIONAL
membership
Our new model operates on a scale, and covers all group
memberships under the same principles.
Group Size Fee Fee Basis
5 to 9 US $6000 Per member
10-19 US $5000 Per member
20-29 US $4000 Per member
30-99 US $135,000 Per group
100-250 US $200,000 Per group

8. New group membership
model
orcid.org
Under the new model, all member share Trusted
Party status - which gives the ability to read and
write to records with researcher permission
In addition, all members get the following:
• 5 API credentials
• Update notifications via the API – fully automated
• Webinars to launch consortium, plus in-person
technical workshops for larger consortia
• Dedicated online resources for national
community
• Monthly analytics
• Can nominate members for the ORCID board of
directors
9. The metadata “round trip” enables auto-
