Statement of the Problem
Offline Retail Online Retail
 Retail involves the sale of
goods from a single point
(malls, markets, department
stores etc) directly to the
consumer in small quantities for
his end use
 People purchase product for
fulfil there needs and satisfy
their wants in stores.
 For example:
Reliance Mart, Big Bazaar etc
 Online shopping is the process
whereby consumers directly buy
goods or services from a seller in
real-time, without an intermediary
service, over the Internet.
 Online sites made shopping one of
the easiest tasks possible
 For example :
ebay.com,myntra.com etc.
Background of the Problem

differently when they
could see & touch the
product.
 Consumer responded
better to products that
were “Physically Present”
 Opening a business as an
online store is much
cheaper than a retail
storefront.
 it saves money, energy
time & resources.
Research Objectives based on variables
 Consumer choice on the product: when consumer saw an image of the
product and physically touch the product
 On which product Consumer respond better ?

2. Offline Retail
 Bricks & mortar retailer need to re-invent the way they do business
 Today’s challenging economic conditions and successfully fight the
onslaught of online shopping
Hypothesis Formulation
 Here we are going to test the hypothesis. H0 = Online shopping is
more beneficial than traditional shopping.
 Now the days are gone when shopping was only done at brick and
mortar stores.
 Internet has emerged out as the new source of shopping.
 We find out the trends of the students
 To test our hypothesis that student prefer to shop online only for
textbooks & not personal items.
 To test hypothesis we choose a group of students to know the trends
that are going among college students.

 College students spends a lot of money of personal items such as
clothing & gadgets we need to know where they are shopping for
these things so we know how to market certain items
 In this study, we wanted to basically find out if students prefer
shopping online or in a retail store ?
 It choose mostly online shopping, Because it attracted by bulk
discount, it saves money, energy time & resources
 A user can use internet to search for new products & services,
compare the prices & features at the same time.

to the problem & Why?
Qualitative Research
 Qualitative researchers are primarily concerned with practice and
process rather than outcomes. That is, they focus on the process that is
occurring instead of the outcome of that process. The focus is on
participants' perceptions and experiences and the way they make sense
of their lives.
 Focuses on under standing a social phenomenon form the perspective
of those involved as participants in the research.
