DR Vivek Varat Pattanaik
The Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J P Nadda on 15
May 2015 launched kayakalp Award Scheme.
kayakalp Award Scheme
The scheme is intended to encourage and incentivize Public Health Facilities (PHFs) in the
country to demonstrate high levels of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control practices.
Objectives
1) To promote cleanliness, hygiene and Infection Control Practices in public
Health Care Facilities.
2) To incentivize and recognize such public healthcare facilities that show
exemplary performance in adhering to standard protocols of cleanliness and
infection control.
3) To inculcate a culture of ongoing assessment and peer review of performance
related to hygiene, cleanliness and sanitation.
4) To create and share sustainable practices related to improved cleanliness in
public health facilities linked to positive health outcomes.
Scope
1) Assessment on predefined objective criteria.
2) System of Peer-review.
3) Cash Award for DHs .
4) Two SDHs/CHCs in a State (one award in each category for small states).
5) Cash Award for one PHC in each District.
6) Certificate for commendation & cash award for facilities achieving more than
70% score.
7) Felicitation of best Hospitals at National Level.

In order to motivate, sustain and improve performance in
facilities that score over 70%, but do not make it to the list of
award winning facilities in a particular year, a Certificate of
Commendation plus cash award would be given as follows:

  • 2. The Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J P Nadda on 15 May 2015 launched kayakalp Award Scheme.
  • 3. kayakalp Award Scheme The scheme is intended to encourage and incentivize Public Health Facilities (PHFs) in the country to demonstrate high levels of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control practices.
  • 4. Objectives 1) To promote cleanliness, hygiene and Infection Control Practices in public Health Care Facilities. 2) To incentivize and recognize such public healthcare facilities that show exemplary performance in adhering to standard protocols of cleanliness and infection control. 3) To inculcate a culture of ongoing assessment and peer review of performance related to hygiene, cleanliness and sanitation. 4) To create and share sustainable practices related to improved cleanliness in public health facilities linked to positive health outcomes.
  • 5. Scope 1) Assessment on predefined objective criteria. 2) System of Peer-review. 3) Cash Award for DHs . 4) Two SDHs/CHCs in a State (one award in each category for small states). 5) Cash Award for one PHC in each District. 6) Certificate for commendation & cash award for facilities achieving more than 70% score. 7) Felicitation of best Hospitals at National Level.

In order to motivate, sustain and improve performance in facilities that score over 70%, but do not make it to the list of award winning facilities in a particular year, a Certificate of Commendation plus cash award would be given as follows: Facility Cash award District Hospital Rs. 300,000 CHC/SdH rs. 100,000 Primary Health centres rs. 50,000
