1. What have I learnt from the
preliminary to the full product?
2. Preliminary
Now at the time, I was very pleased with how my
preliminary turned out, and now I still think I did the
best I could with it.
However, looking back on it I
realise that there are a few items
I would change but …
The act of doing the preliminary
was essential to the real thing
because I now knew how to use
Photoshop, and how to set up a
magazine properly.
3. Final Piece
I learnt a lot from doing my
preliminary magazine, not
only about how to make
my front cover seem more
authentic, but also how to
get a better work flow
during the editing side of
things.
4. Photoshop
Before I started A-level media, I had no
experience with using Photoshop.
Since first using it to make my prelim cover I
believe I have improved dramatically in not
only the results I get at the end, but also
making the same image with half the time
spent
5. Composition
The main thing that I learnt from my
preliminary work is the importance of
composition.
The slight difference of having my artist in
the middle of the page instead of the right
hand side made the whole page look larger,
better proportioned and better laid out.
6. The Image
I learnt that the image is crucial and is really
what will sell the front cover.
Having the blank white background gives a
much more professional feel to the image as
it’s what the audience would expect from a
proper photo shoot.
