Why frogs and mosquitoes are enemies story
A long time ago, there was an old crab who liked to sleep. But there were some frogs
living nearby who made a loud noise. They kept him awake at night.
One night, the crab became very angry. “Don’t make so much noise!” he shouted.
“we can’t help it,” said the king of the frogs. “We’re talking about our friend the turtle.”
“What’s wrong with the turtle?”
“Don’t you know?” asked the king of the frogs. “he carries his house on his back.”
The crab then asked the turtle, “Why do you carry your house on your back?”
“Because I’m afraid the firefly will set light to it,” answered the turtle.
The crab then asked the firefly, “Why do you want to set fire to the poor turtle’s house?”
“Because the fire will keep away the mosquitoes,: said the firefly.
“And why do you want to give so much trouble to the firefly?” the crab asked the
mosquito.
“I don’t,” replied the mosquito. At the same time, the mosquito bit the king of the frogs
who had first spoken to the crab.
He jumped at least six inches in the air. “Ooch!” he cried. “Don’t bite me! It’s painful!”
But the mosquito dived at him again. He was very angry.
The king of the frogs stuck out his tongue and caught him. That was the end of the
mosquito.
Since then, frogs and mosquitoes have been enemies. Even now, mosquitoes always chase
frogs and bite them whenever they have the chance.

The Fable of Birds and Tortoise
Once upon a time, there was a big feast in the sky, all the birds were invited to a feast by the
people of the sky. Tortoise was very clever and very hungry and as soon as it heard about the
great feast, it began to plan how it would travel to the sky.
Tortoise went to the birds home and asked if it could go with them. The birds agreed and they
each give it a feather, with which it made a pair of wings for the Tortoise.
The great day came, and Tortoise and the birds set off on their journey to the sky.
Finally, the birds and Tortoise arrived at the party. The people of the sky invited the birds to eat
the delicious food they had prepared, but then Tortoise asked, “For whom have you prepared
this feast?”
“for you, because you are special animals,” replied the people on the sky.
Tortoise turned in the birds and said, “Remember i am is the most special animal, cause i am
the only on Tortoise who can fly. You will eat after me.”
The birds waited angrily as Tortoise ate and drank most of the feast. Then they came forward to
eat, but a few of them were too angry to eat. Before flying home, each bird took back the
feather it had lent Tortoise unnoticely. So, there Tortoise stood full of food and drink, but
without any wings to fly home.
When the feast is over, birds and Tortoise jumped back go home, but the tortoise was surprised
because he lost his wings. So, the Tortoise fell and fell and fell and landed with a great crash on
the ground. It wasn’t hurt but its shell broke into pieces. fortunately, there was a good doctor in
the neighbourhood. Tortoise’s wife sent for him and he collected all the bits of Tortoise’s shell
and stuck them together. That is why, Tortoise’s shell is not smooth.

The Purse of Gold
A beggar found a leather purse that someone had dropped in a
market place. Opening it, he discovered that it contained 100 pieces of gold. Then he heard a
merchant shouted, "A reward! A reaward to the one who find my leather purse!"
Being an honest man, the beggar came forward and handed the purse to the merchant saying,
"Here is your purse. Will you keep your word to give a reward now?"
"Reward?" scoffed the merchant greedily counting the amount of gold. "The purse I dropped
had 200 pieces of gold in it. You've already stolen more than the reward I'll give to you.! Go
away or I'll tell you to the police."
"I'm an honest man," said the beggar defiantly. "Let's take this matter to the court!" In the
court, the judge patiently listened to both sides of the story and said, "I believe you both.
Justice is possible! Merchant, you stated that the purse you lost contained 200 pieces of gold.
Well, that's a considerable cost. But the purse the beggar found had only 100 pieces of gold.
Therefore, it couldn't be the one you lost."
And, with that, the judge gave the purse and all the golds to the beggar

The wise lion
King lion was getting ready to go to war and called to arms all the other
animals.
But his ministers asked him to dismiss the donkey and the rabbit, because
one was too stupid and the other too easily scared.
“Not at all” refused the king. “The donkey has a voice which is even more
resonant than mine. He can be the trumpeter”
“The rabbit, being so quick, will be invaluable for carrying message,” added
the king. To win a war you have to know how to get the best out of everyone.

Molly’s dream
Molly was a young woman who worked for
a farmer on his farm. One day the farmer gave her a pail of milk. He told her to sell it and keep
the money for herself.
Molly was very much pleased. She put the pail of milk on her head and went to market.
As she walked along, she said to herself, “I shall get some money for the milk. With the
money I will buy a few hens. The hens will lay eggs, and from the eggs I shall get more hens. I
will sell the hens, and with the money I will buy a new dress.
“How beautiful I shall look in my new dress! The young men will ask me to walk with
them, but I will not walk with them. They will ask me to dance with them, but I will not dance
with them. They want to marry me, but I will toss my head, and refuse them all.”
So she tossed her head. Down came the pail and milk and all.
Her fine dream was all over.

whose name was Gold Smith. DR. Smith had a good heart. He was always ready to help others,
and gave away so much to the poor that he was always poor himself. One day a woman came
and asked DR. Smith to see her husband who was ill at home. DR. Smith did so. He found that
the man was not ill but poor. He had not eaten anything for many days.
“Come to my house this evening,” said the doctor to the woman. “I will give you some
medicine which may make your husband better.”
In the evening the woman came. DR. Smith gave her a little box which was very heavy.
“this is the medicine which may do good to your husband.” Said the doctor. “But don’t
open the box until you reach home.”
When she reached home, she showed the box to her husband and opened it. What do you
think they found in it? It was full of money. DR. Smith took pity to the man and the woman who
he gave all the money which he had.

A Proud Rooster
Two roosters were fighting fiercely to be the king of the farm yard. One finally
gained advantage and the other surrendered.
The losing rooster slunk away and hid itself in a quiet corner. The winner flew up to
a high wall, flapped its wings and crowed its victory, as loud as it could.
Suddenly an eagle came sailing through the air and carried it off, with its talons. The
losing rooster immediately came out of its corner and ruled the farm yard from then on.

Pak belalang
Pak Belalang was famous. He had a magic book that could
tell everything. He always learned something every time he read the magic book.
It was a beautiful evening. Pak belalang had some guests. Suddenly he asked his son to get him
the magic book. He wanted to show his magic ability to the guests.
After reading the magic book, he said, "I think there is a mouse in the trap."
His son immediately went to the kitchen and took the mousetrap. Pak Belalang was right! There
was a mouse caught in the trap.
The guests were surprised. They were Belalang's magic book. After all the guests went home,
Pak Belalang laughed.
"Ha...ha...ha... I fooled them. They didn't know I had put a mouse trap. Ha...ha...ha..."
Yes, Pak Belalang was a liar. He actually did not have a magic book. It was just an ordinary book.
He lied because he wanted to be famous.
One day, the king called Pak Belalang to the palace to find the missing jewellery. The king
gave him seven days to find it. Pak Belalang knew that if he could not find the jewellery, he
would be punished. He would go to jail.
Pak Belalang went to every place to find the jewellery. On the seventh day he still could not find
them. So, he held a farewell dinner with his family.
Pak Belalang said to his wife, "Please make some pancakes."
When the first pancake was ready, Pak Belalang said, "This one is yellow. Please make another."
When the second one is ready, he said, "This is too brown, make me another one."
Within every pancake, Pak Belalang said too dark, too fat, too thin, and so on. Meanwhile, Pak
Belalang did not know that some thieves were hiding under his house. Those were the thieves
who stole the king's jewellery.
The thieves wanted to know what Pak Belalang would say about them. When they heard the
words yellow, brown, dark, fat, thin, they become frightened because each of them were
yellow, brown, dark fat and thin.
A moment later, the seven thieves knocked on his door. They cried, "Please help us, Pak
Belalang! We will return the jewellery. We promise not to steal anymore!"
Pak Belalang then brought the jewellery to the palace. The king was so happy and gave him
great gifts.
Pak Belalang was so thank

A Loyal Farmer
A long time ago, there was a small village in Bali.
The villagers were farmers they were very happy. Gods gave them fertile land. They always had
great harvest. There were no poor family in that village.
One day, a young man came to the village. He came from a very far place.
He went to the richest farmer in the village. The richest farmer's name was Jero Pasek.
"My name is I Tundung. I came here to work, Sir. I promise I will work hard."
"Hmm...Okay, I will let you work in my rice field. But remember, I will ask you to leave if you
are lazy." said Jero Pasek.
I Tudung was very happy. He did not want to disappoint Jero pasek, his master. He worked
diligently. Jero Pasek was very grateful. The harvest was much better. Besides cultivating, I
Tundung also look care of the animals, such as chickens, ducks, goats and cows. The number of
the animals also increased. Jero Pasek become richer.
Jero pasek planned to ask I Tundung to cultivate his field in Kangin Hill.
Unlike the land in the village, the land in Kangin Hill was not fertile.
However, I Tundung accepted it very happy. He felt that Jero Pasek had already trusted him. He
wanted to repay his trust by giving him great harvest.
The land in the hill was arid. It was very dry. However, I Tundung was never gave up. There was
a small spring. I Tundung made irrigation. He used the water in the spring and flew it through the
irrigation.
It worked! The land was not dry anymore. The plants grew very well. And again they had great
harvest. Now the whole hills are green, thanks to I Tundung.
Unfortunately, their happiness did not last long. A thief stole the harvest and the animals.
Sadly, I Tundung was never able to catch the thief. The harvest and the animals kept on missing,
11
Jero Pasek was angry.
"I'm very disappointed in you. I have lost a lot of harvest and animals!"
I Tundung was sad. He went to a temple to pray. While he was meditating, he heard a voice.
"I know your problem and I can help you."
"Thank you. I'm willing to do anything as long as I can protect my master's harvest and animals."
said I Tundung.
"I will change you into a big black snake. You will live in the hill and you can protect the harvest
and the animals."
I Tundung agreed. he did not want to make his master disappointed and angry at him. Slowly, he
changed into a big black snake.
Meanwhile, Joko Pasek was looking for I Tundung. And when he arrived at his field, he saw a
big black snake. He was so surprised when the snake was able to talk!
"Don't be afraid, Sir. It's me, I Tundung. From now on, I will always protect your harvest and
your animals."
Jero Pasek was very sad. He never meant to ask I Tundung to do anything. But it was to late.***

  • 1. 1 Why frogs and mosquitoes are enemies story A long time ago, there was an old crab who liked to sleep. But there were some frogs living nearby who made a loud noise. They kept him awake at night. One night, the crab became very angry. “Don’t make so much noise!” he shouted. “we can’t help it,” said the king of the frogs. “We’re talking about our friend the turtle.” “What’s wrong with the turtle?” “Don’t you know?” asked the king of the frogs. “he carries his house on his back.” The crab then asked the turtle, “Why do you carry your house on your back?” “Because I’m afraid the firefly will set light to it,” answered the turtle. The crab then asked the firefly, “Why do you want to set fire to the poor turtle’s house?” “Because the fire will keep away the mosquitoes,: said the firefly. “And why do you want to give so much trouble to the firefly?” the crab asked the mosquito. “I don’t,” replied the mosquito. At the same time, the mosquito bit the king of the frogs who had first spoken to the crab. He jumped at least six inches in the air. “Ooch!” he cried. “Don’t bite me! It’s painful!” But the mosquito dived at him again. He was very angry. The king of the frogs stuck out his tongue and caught him. That was the end of the mosquito. Since then, frogs and mosquitoes have been enemies. Even now, mosquitoes always chase frogs and bite them whenever they have the chance.
