iOS is Apple's mobile operating system used primarily on iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touch devices. It was originally developed for the iPhone and is derived from Mac OS X. Major features of iOS include a touchscreen interface, accelerometers for sensing motion, and multitasking capabilities. iOS supports applications developed using Apple's SDK and distributed through the App Store. Though originally developed for the iPhone, iOS can now power iPads, iPod Touches, Apple TV, and other devices. iOS continues to gain market share as a mobile operating system.
