Iconography in post apocalyptic films is quite iconic to the genre however can be
linked with sci-fi or horror depending on what type of post apocalyptic film that you
would like to make. For example, classic iconography of a post apocalyptic
environment are: a dystopian setting with abandoned buildings, desolate towns, dark
sky’s and a small group of survivors around the age of 30. However, blood can also
be assosciated with post apocalyptic if you are going down the horror side of post
apocalyptic and also zombies. Aliens and other extra terrestrial sources can also be
associated with post apocalyptic if the film is going down the science fiction route
where maybe aliens are trying to take over. An example of this would be in Tom
Cruise’s Edge of Tomorrow where they are fighting of the aliens.
