Digital agencies have failed. Reason we have failed is that
we have really not shown our value. We have talked about
conversation yet have continued to deliver advertising which
shouts at people. Where we have tried to engage we are
guilty of creating digital ghost towns, sites which are flashy
and apparently are set to get people to engage with the brand
but do not ask the question why would people interact. British
Airways has just launched such a site for Terminal 5 which
allows you to find out the mood of people landing at Terminal
5 – who really cares? It is no wonder digital agencies are
losing their clients to above the line agencies, BBH picks up
Audi from GT, Y&R picks up Virgin Trains from Glue London.
Unless we really show our value this will just continue.
