2. LADY GAGA DIGIPAK
The same theme is running throughout
this artists’ digipak which connects it
throughout.
All the images look
similar and they all use
the same type of colour.
The dark colour is used
so Lady Gaga can stand
out.
This image is
important within
the digipak because
the only light that is
used is around the
artist and it shows
that she is a solo
act.
The front cover of the
album cover is a close
up of Gaga’s face
revealing her
accessories and outfit
that she is wearing.
The fact that the title
of the album ‘The
Fame’ isn’t in big
writing compared to
the artist name shows
that she is quirky and
a confident artist.
3. KATY PERRY DIGIPAK The colours used throughout this
digipak could connote a female
target audience. Pink is being
used quite a lot throughout this
digipak and it is stereotypically
feminine colour.
The fact that the digipak uses
colourful imagery clearly shows
the genre of pop. This is because
the genre of pop uses a range of
bright colours.
The theme of candy is a
running theme
throughout the digipak.
The theme is quirky just
like Katy Perry as an
artist. Even the
typography that is used is
in a candy font.
This digipak also relates
to the genre which Katy
Perry is in which is pop.
The fact that Perry isn’t
wearing any clothing in
some of her shots could
suggest that she is trying
to target a male
audience.
However, the theme of candy
and sweets can attract a
younger audience and both
sides of her album attract two
types of audiences.
4. MUMFORD AND SONS DIGIPAK
The layout and style of the album
is simple and not complex at all
which I think is a complete contrast
to the genre that the band is in.
However, the CD is a darker
colour which ties in nicely
with the whole design of
the CD.
The whole of the theme of the digipak is tied in well with this image of the
band being captured as both dark and light colours are being used and
mixed.
This part of the
digipak is simple yet
goes well with the
album as a whole.
In my opinion it
doesn't fit with the
genre this band is in
as rock is a very
different genre and
the covers are
usually very unique.
Whereas this album
cover is completely
different to the
codes and
conventions of the
genre.
5. RIHANNA DIGIPAK
This digipak only features
Rihanna on it and consists
of close up shots. The
colour of her hair and the
lipstick that she is wearing
matches suggesting she
wants the same theme
throughout.
Her alum goes against the
codes and conventions of
an RnB genre because the
artists are usually
portrayed as having a
‘sexy’ style but the image
that is being used portrays
Rihanna as pure and
innocent.
The use of the roses on
specific panels of the
digipak carries the
connotations of love and
innocence.
The theme of roses is
prominent throughout
the digipak and I think
the artist ha stuck with
this theme well as it
comes through in her
music as well.
