My Educational Technology
Using Technology in My Childhood Classroom
In our Kindergarten Classroom, we used technology
to:
• Make adaptations
• Make classroom instructional resources
• Make activities more engaging
• Build background knowledge to provide meaningful
learning opportunities
• Gain professional knowledge/ resources from
teachers across the country
Commonly Used Materials in our
Classroom

Realia
Realia- objects or activities used to relate classroom
teaching to the real life especially of people studied.
Advantages:
-Plentiful
-Concrete learning experiences
-Motivate the learner
Disadvantages:
-Not always practical (size,potential hazards,need to
maintain original structure)
-Can be a distraction
-Storage and Retrieval
Models
Models-Three-dimensional representations of real
objects
- Represent structures
-Scale
Advantages:
-Can be manipulated
- more practical than realia
- Simplifies complex concepts
Disadvantages:
-In accuracy may lead to misconceptions
-May lead to over simplication
-May be difficult to design
Text
Text- Alphanumeric letters and characters presented to
students in the form of printed materials.
-May synthesize or elaborate on the lesson
-Provides exercises
- Enrichment activities
Advantages:
-varied approaches
-easy to bring, recopy
-not limited to the class schedule
Disadvantage:
-Preconceptions
-Traditional
-May divide the student’s attention
GRAPHIC MATERIALS
GRAPHIC MATERIALS- two-dimensional pictorial
representations
-Include charts, graphs, drawing and posters
-For Visual learners
Advantages:
-Catches attention
-Simplify concepts
-Impact on note taking
Disadvantages:
-Need for clarity
-Size must be appropriate for class and classroom size
-Prior Knowledge
Display board
Display board- A vertical surface on which
information can be displayed to public view
-Promotes visual topics
-May be used as classroom decoration
Advantages:
-Interactive
-May cover various topics
-Engaging
Disadvantages:
-May become distracting
-Time Consuming
-Must be regularly monitored
Using Technology in my Secondary

• Large pad displayed on an

• Can use this in making a

• Both can be used by teacher
and students to write on and
students can learn to write

written on with multicolored makers that can be
easily erased

• Taking image of events in
their family or class activity
like going a nature walk and
showing what they saw

program on a station or by
hooking VCR or DVD player

used in the classroom by all
students and teachers. This
device gives students a great
chance to search for
information on the internet
without having to look
things up in a book. Also
they have the chance to do
class work and activities on
the computer without the
use of paper.

• This object can be use by
teachers and students for
observations and
documentating information.
