- One of the most useful tools in the Oracle Primavera P6
- How to get used of Float Paths, step by step.
- When it fails to support you? What to do in such a case.
8. 8) Filter the target number of Float Paths
Float path = 1 , indicates the critical path for a series or activity.
Float path = 2 , indicates the second critical path for a series or
activity.
Float path < X, indicates the first (X) number of the critical paths
9. 9) Why it doesn’t work ?
This option will not work, in two cases:
1- One constraint assigned to the destination activity, with an impacted date
exceeding all of the predecessor relationships.
In this case, non of the predecessor relationships will be driving, so P6
Can’t detect the proper float path
2- Open relationship, i.e. the destination activity doesn’t have any
predecessor.
10. 10) What to do ?
Carefully filter the destination activity, then use the predecessors’ least free
float relation, by GO TO till you reach the start.
Be careful while using this method, try to avoid totally any option that may
refresh the data. It will clear everything and bring you back to the target
activity only.
