An online survey of 1,011 US adults conducted in December 2017 looked at consumer content habits. Key findings included:
- Consumers spend about 1/3 of their day engaging with digital content, mainly on smartphones and laptops.
- Over half constantly or frequently use multiple devices at once, feeling productive, entertained, and connected while doing so.
- Consumers are more cautious sharing content now than 5 years ago and trust content from friends and family or online news sources most.
- Poorly written, irrelevant, or poorly designed content from brands is annoying and likely to cause consumers to abandon purchases.
