At the 2013 eTourism conference in San Francisco, I asked:
“Do you consider yourself technical?” A few hands went up.
“Do you see yourself becoming more technical?” Almost all the hands went up with a few chuckles.
This was a room full of travel destination marketers.
Today, Marketing is ever more technology-centric, and I focus on bridging the two.
Modern marketers use myriad technologies like social media, mobile apps, content, email, search, real-time bidding platforms, mobile modalities (like SMS, Push, Location-based services, responsive), websites, analytics, and even wearables like Nike Fuel.
