Why to study Prophecies?
Amos 3:7
7
Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his
secret to his servants the prophets.

Mat 16:2-4
2
He answered and said to them, When it is evening, ye
say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. 3
And in the
morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and
threatening. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the
sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? 4
A
wicked and adulterous generation seeketh for a sign; and
there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet
Jonah. And he left them, and departed.
We are Nearing the End Times.

Rev 11:18
18
And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and
the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that
thou shouldest give reward to thy servants the prophets,
and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and
great; and shouldest destroy them who destroy the earth.
Was impossible before 20th century.

Amo 9

Behold, the eyes of the Lord GOD are upon the sinful
kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth;
except that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob,
saith the LORD.

For, lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel
among all nations, like as grain is sifted in a sieve, yet shall
not the smallest grain fall upon the earth. {sift: Heb. cause
to move} {grain: Heb. stone}

All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, who
say, The evil shall not overtake nor fall upon us.

and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them ; and

came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Jerusalem, and
besieged it.

And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand,
with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he
carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and
he brought the vessels into the treasure-house of his god.

And the king spoke to Ashpenaz the master of his
eunuchs, that he should bring [certain] of the children of
Israel, and of the king's seed, and of the princes;

Jehoiakim was installed as king of Judah by pharaoh
Necho II in 608 BC
Jehoiakim is remembered for burning the manuscript of one
of the prophecies of Jeremiah
Who is Jehoiakim

2Ch 36:4-5

And the king of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king over
Judah and Jerusalem, and changed his name to Jehoiakim.
And Necho took Jehoahaz his brother, and carried him to
Egypt.

Jehoiakim [was] twenty and five years old when he began
to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and he
did [that which was] evil in the sight of the LORD his God.

reach] to heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we
should be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole

And the LORD came down to see the city and the
tower, which the children of men were building...

to build the city. 9
Therefore is the name of it called Babel,
because the LORD there confounded the language of all
the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them
abroad upon the face of all the earth.

Rev 17
1
And there came one of the seven angels who had the seven vials, and talked
with me, saying to me, Come; I will show to thee the judgment of the great
harlot that sitteth upon many waters: 2
With whom the kings of the earth have
committed acts of immorality, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made
drunk with the wine of her immorality. 3
So he carried me away in the spirit into
the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of
names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4
And the woman
was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious
stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and
filthiness of her immorality: {decked: Gr. gilded} 5
And upon her forehead was a
name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF
HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. {harlots: or, fornications}

And I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of
the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great wonder.
Antitype of Babylon

Rev 18
1
And after these things I saw another angel come down
from heaven, having great power; and the earth was made
bright with his glory. 2
And he cried mightily with a strong
voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is
become the habitation of demons, and the hold of every
foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
Antitype of Babylon

First defeat - 605 BC. Daniel and his friends in captivity.
Second siege - 597 BC,
Final destruction - 587 BC, the eleventh year of Zedekiah's
reign
Babylon against Jerusalem

According to the Babylonian Chronicles, Jerusalem
eventually fell on 2 Adar (March 16) 597 BC
:
In the seventh year (of Nebuchadnezzar-599 BC.) in the
month Chislev (Nov/Dec) the king of Babylon assembled
his army, and after he had invaded the land of Hatti he laid
siege to the city of Judah. On the second day of the month
of Adar (16 March) he conquered the city and took the king
(Jeconiah) prisoner. He installed in his place a king
(Zedekiah) of his own choice, and after he had received
rich tribute, he sent forth to Babylon.

2Ki 24:13-14

And he carried out thence all the treasures of the house
of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house, and cut
in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of
Israel had made in the temple of the LORD, as the LORD
had said.

And he carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes,
and all the mighty men of valor, [even] ten thousand
captives, and all the artificers, and smiths: none remained,
save the poorest sort of the people of the land.

Jer 15:4
4
And I will cause them to be removed into all kingdoms of
the earth, because of Manasseh the son of Hezekiah king
of Judah, for [that] which he did in Jerusalem.

he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another; besides
his sin which he made Judah to sin, in doing evil in the
sight of the LORD.
What was made by Manasseh?

Isa 39
1
At that time Merodach-baladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent
letters and a present to Hezekiah: for he had heard that he had been sick, and
had recovered. 2
And Hezekiah was glad of them, and showed them the house
of his precious things, … 3
Then came Isaiah the prophet to king Hezekiah, and
said to him, What said these men? and from whence came they to thee? and
Hezekiah said, They have come to me from a far country, from Babylon. 4
Then
said he, What have they seen in thy house? And Hezekiah answered, All that
[is] in my house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I
have not showed them. 5
Then said Isaiah to Hezekiah, Hear the word of the
LORD of hosts: 6
Behold, the days come, that all that [is] in thy house, and
[that] which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to
Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD. 7
And of thy sons that shall issue
from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be
eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
Prophecy to Manasseh’s father

Jer 7:1-4
1
The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
2
Stand in the gate of the LORD'S house, and proclaim
there this word, and say, Hear the word of the LORD, all
[ye of] Judah, that enter in at these gates to worship the
LORD. 3
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel,
Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to
dwell in this place. 4
Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The
temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, The temple
of the LORD, [are] these.
They thought they were protected

Eze 10:18-19
18
Then the glory of the LORD departed from off the
threshhold of the house, and stood over the cherubim.
19
And the cherubim lifted up their wings, and mounted up
from the earth in my sight: when they went out, the wheels
also [were] beside them, and [every one] stood at the door
of the east-gate of the LORD'S house; and the glory of the
God of Israel [was] over them above.

Eze 11:22-25

Then the cherubim raised their wings, and the wheels
beside them; and the glory of the God of Israel [was] over
them above. 23
And the glory of the LORD went up from the
midst of the city, and stood upon the mountain which [is] on
the east side of the city. 24
Afterwards the spirit took me up,
and brought me in vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea,
to them of the captivity. So the vision that I had seen went
up from me. 25
Then I spoke to them of the captivity all the
things that the LORD had shown me.

Jer 29:10
10
For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years shall
be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my
good word towards you, in causing you to return to this
place.
