mostof the volunteersgrewupinwere quite differentfromthe conditionourkidsgrow upin.In order
to teachthemefficiently,we mustunderstandtheirsituation.Thiscanbe achievedonlywhenwe visit
theirhome frequentlyandtalktotheirparents.Alsoitmake our jobeasierif we come to KOSHISHwith
a little bitof preparation.Goingthroughthe technical termsinHindi andhavingaplanfor the day can
make thingsmore efficient.Goodcommunicationwithfellow volunteersteachingthe same classhelps
to coordinate ourplansand target;and alsoto recognize kidswhoneedmore attentionthanothers.
Punctuality andregularityissomethingwe KNITiansare notusedto;but itis importanttorealize the
impactour irregularitycanhave.Missingone classona scheduleddayleadsto2 hoursof 10 students
(20 hoursintotal) beingwasted.If there issome urgentwork,pre-informingaboutyourunavailability
can helpusarrange some alternative.Alsoitisexpectedthatthe volunteersof agivenclasshelpthe
kidsintheirassemblypreparations.Additionally,if the volunteerwantstodemonstrate some
experiment/activity,comingpreparedisveryimportant.

some whoare more interestedinsportsorotherco-curricularactivities.We believeinprovidingan
opportunitytothe kidsto explore aplethoraof optionsandchoose the streamthatisbestsuitedfor

development.Hence we have one dayinthe week(ALTENATESATURDAY) dedicatedforgamesand

back to the people whohave beenservingusforsolong.Alsoproximityfactorplaysapivotal role.
20. Why dowe focus oneverykidratherthan emphasizingonbrightkids?
Ans.We cannotbringabout a change by selectivelyhelpingasmall section. The brightkidsalwaysget
opportunitiestoexcel while the average lotremainsneglected, especiallyinthe low income groups. And
these are the kids whoneedspecial attention.Thisdoesnotmeanthatwe exclude the brightkidswho
come to us.
21. Why isaddressinghealthissueimportant?
Ans.As we all know,properphysical,mentalandsocial well-beingare importantprerequisitesforgood
learning.Of all these, physical healthisthe easiesttotake care of.We have experiencedthatmanyof
the kidsinKOSHISH sufferfromvariousailments,afew havingreallyseriousproblemswhichgenerally
go unnoticeddue toignorance orare deliberatelyoverlookeddue tofinancial problems. So,unlesswe
addressthisaspecttoo,we cannot educate kidsproperly.
22. Why are we planningtohelpthe kidsgethighereducation/jobs?
Ans.We believe thathighereducationgivesalife changingexposure andisthereforenecessarywhether
one goesfor a jobor not.In absence of continuedsupport, the kidsgenerallydropoutafter12th and
mightfeel thatwhattheyhad dreamedunder backsupprotof KOSHISHare unrealizable anditmight
shattertheirveryfaithineducation.Topreserve thisfaithsothattheycan serve as a strongbase for
theirfuture generation,itisnecessarytohelpthemtill college education.

Ans.In case of extremelypoorfinancialcondition,we plantocontribute feefromKOSHISH seniors.
24. What kindof workshopsdowe planto organize andwhy?
Ans.We believe inthe holisticdevelopmentof ourkids’personality.Itisimportanttoexpose the kidsto
variousskillsandtrainthemin theirfieldof interest.Manyworkshopshave beenorganizedforthe kids
at KOSHISHin the recentpast. Some of these are forsketching,mime,…………….... comicsmaking, etc.
Most of these eventsare preplanned andsome are onthe spot. These eventsexpose the kidstowards
manyskillswhichcanhelpthemintheirfuture.Alsoitprovidesarefreshingbreakforthe kidsfromtheir
routine life.
26. What do we celebrate inKOSHISH?
Ans. We have onlythree celebrations:- Republicday,Independence dayandannual function. Thisall
arisesthe love fornationandalso servestocrush outtheirstage fear.
27. What isthe needof the Annual Function?
Ans.The Annual Functionis an opportunityourkidsgettoshowcase theircultural talents. We believe
that thisisan integral part of theireducation.Thiseventmarksthe annual highlightof KOSHISHand
servesasa commonplatformforthe interactionof the kids, theirparents, the volunteersandthe
others.Ithelpsthe kidsto boosttheirconfidence andthatof the parentsintheirkids. Alsovarious
prizesare distributedtochildrenwhoperformedwellinthe whole year.
